A lot of times, couples aren’t failing at therapy.

They might just need more time, more space, and a more focused approach than a weekly session can realistically offer.

A Relationship Intensive might be worth considering when:

- the same conflict keeps happening and leaving you feeling stuck

- weekly sessions don’t give you enough time to slow down and understand the pattern together

- you are hoping for a clear plan

Intensives are designed for couples who want dedicated support, a structured process, and the opportunity to explore what’s happening underneath the conflict that keeps repeating; with care, intention, and the space to reconnect.

Relationship Intensives are self-pay services through Lifetime of Love Institute.

Healthy couples still have conflict.

They don’t avoid every disagreement. The difference is that they know how to come back to each other afterward.

Repair is what keeps conflict from becoming distance.

A repair might sound like:

“I didn’t handle that well.”
“I want to try again.”
“I got defensive, but I still want to understand you.”
“I love you, and I don’t want this argument to put up a wall between us.”

Conflict is normal.
Staying disconnected doesn’t have to be.

Couples think the problem is that they argue.

Usually, the bigger issue is what happens once they’re angry.

Do they stop caring about how much their words hurt?
Do they withdraw and shutdown to make a point?
Do they get defensive and stop listening?
Do they turn on each other?

Love doesn’t mean you will never be upset with each other again.

It means you are willing to learn how to handle those moments differently.

New blog post: When Weekly Couples Therapy May Not Be Enough

Weekly couples therapy can be a very effective way for couples to work through communication problems, conflict, and disconnection.

But sometimes, one hour a week doesn't feel like enough.

That doesn't mean the relationship is hopeless. It may mean the couple needs more time, more structure, and a clear plan for how to move forward.

In this blog post, I talk about:

* When weekly couples therapy works well
* When it can start to feel too slow
* Signs a couple may need more structure
* What a relationship intensive can offer
* How to think about which format fits best

For some couples, the issue is not that they're not trying hard enough. It's that they need a different format for the level of stress the relationship is under.

I’m Jessica Fox, M.Ed., LPCC-S, Certified Gottman Therapist, and founder of Lifetime of Love Institute.

I work with committed couples who are tired of repeating the same painful pattern.

The couples I help are not usually looking for shallow relationship advice.

They are often thinking:

“We keep having the same fight.”

“We cannot talk without it turning into conflict.”

“One of us shuts down and the other feels abandoned.”

“We still care, but we do not know how to get out of this pattern.”

My approach is structured, research-based, and grounded in The Gottman Method.

That means we are not just talking in circles about the latest argument.

We are looking at the relationship system: the friendship, the conflict pattern, the repair attempts, the emotional injuries, the dreams underneath the conflict, and the way both partners try to protect themselves when the conversation starts to feel unsafe.

In relationship intensives, my goal is to create a focused space where couples can slow down, understand the cycle, and begin practicing a different way forward.

Not blame.

Not shame.

Not “who is the problem?”

The work is about understanding the pattern and helping both partners engage with more clarity, care, and structure.

A relationship intensive is a focused block of time set aside for your relationship.

For some couples, weekly therapy is exactly the right pace.

For others, especially couples who feel stuck in the same painful pattern, weekly sessions can feel fragmented. You begin to get somewhere, the session ends, life takes over, and by the next appointment, another version of the same conflict has happened again.

A relationship intensive creates more uninterrupted time to slow the pattern down.

At Lifetime of Love Institute, the work is structured, focused, and designed to help couples better understand what keeps happening between them.

The goal is not to force a perfect relationship in one day.

The goal is to help you see the cycle more clearly, practice a different way of talking, and leave with a more grounded path forward.

Current options:

One-Day Relationship Reset — $1,595
A focused day for couples who want clarity, structure, and a relationship reset.

Two-Day Relationship Intensive — $3,200
A deeper option for couples who need more time, more practice, and more space for repair.

Relationship intensives are private-pay and offered virtually.

You may not be here because you had one hard conversation.

You may be here because the same painful pattern keeps happening again and again.

You try to talk.
One of you pushes harder.
One of you shuts down.
Both of you feel misunderstood.
Nothing feels fully repaired.

Then life moves on… until the next version of the same cycle shows up.

At Lifetime of Love Institute, I help committed couples slow down the pattern underneath the conflict.

Not to decide who is “the problem.”
Not to hand you one more generic communication tip.
Not to force a quick fix.

The goal is to understand what keeps happening between you, why it keeps happening, and what needs to change so the relationship has a clear path forward.

This page is for couples who still care, but feel tired, stuck, and unsure how to keep having the same conversation without ending up in the same painful place.

Have you ever tried to talk about something important, only for the conversation to go sideways almost immediately? 😵‍💫

Sometimes the issue is not the topic itself.

It’s that one or both partners did not feel emotionally safe enough to stay calm, open, and connected.

When a conversation feels surprising, critical, or overwhelming, the brain can shift into protection mode. That may look like defensiveness, shutdown, arguing, over-explaining, or trying to fix things too quickly.

Before bringing up something that feels difficult, try asking:

“Is now a good time to talk about something important?”

That question creates a little predictability. Predictability can help both people feel more safe. 😊
