Retreat: The Four Foundations of Mindfulness - Annual Summer Retreat 2026

July 26-31, 2026

The Mindfulness Community of Milwaukee is pleased to present its annual summer retreat, The Four Foundations of Mindfulness. This retreat explores four core teachings from the Buddhist tradition that continue to offer practical guidance for modern life: mindfulness of the body, feeling tone, mental formations, and our perception of the world.

Each day, participants will focus on one of these foundations through shared practice, instruction, and reflection. In honor of the 800th anniversary of the Canticle of the Creatures, the retreat will also include a special meditation inspired by Saint Francis, offering another way to deepen presence, gratitude, and connection with the living world.

Note: This retreat also has an extended weekend retreat, continuing through the end of the weekend for those interested:

Retreat: Opening to Pure Awareness: the Path of Meditation
with Susan Mickel May 31–June 7, 2026

Meditation offers ways to calm our minds and to cultivate love and compassion, along with non-reactivity and discernment in the face of stress and life’s difficulties. In these stressful times, learning meditation opens us to new possibilities for being in the world with strength and confidence. The underlying approach, based in Buddhist teachings, includes a belief that our innate true nature is basic goodness and inner wisdom. We can disentangle that innate goodness and wisdom from our misunderstandings that naturally occur through the ordinary conditions of life.
