Staying hydrated in this heat wave is important in general, but especially when you’re pregnant! Picking a good quality electrolyte can go a long way while drinking plenty of water.

Signs of dehydration:
Confusion=time to hydrate
Feeling weak=time to hydrate
Dry mouth=time to hydrate
Lightheadedness when standing up =time to hydrate
Muscle cramps=time to hydrate
Heart beating faster than normal =time to hydrate.

When in doubt, hydrate every chance you possibly can!

As I enter 17 weeks pregnant, I have been reminded several times that my body is doing what it needs to do to prepare for breastfeeding. In the past, I don’t remember feeling little sharp pains on the side of my breast lasting anywhere from 10-30 seconds. With this pregnancy, I have been feeling that quite a bit of that randomly and it has been a way for me to take a pause and be grateful for this moment as my body prepares for breastfeeding. This is completely normal as long as it lasts for a short while and not for long extended periods

Let me know if you have experience this! If so, was it with all pregnancies? Just 1 or 2 pregnancies?

At the start of this pregnancy, I felt bigger than I remembered being with the boys this early in pregnancy. The first photo was taken earlier this week as I entered 15 weeks and the 2nd photo is when I was 15 weeks pregnant with Cash. Seems like I might be right on point? Wish I had a photo of when I was 15 weeks pregnant with Wesley to really compare!

Each pregnancy has been so different and I kick myself for not capturing very many photos while I was pregnant with Wesley. I am learning with this one to take every opportunity to photograph what I can as these are not moments that we get to live in forever. It’s a self reflection to love our amazing bodies and give ourselves grace.

As someone that struggles with body image, I remind myself that my body is amazing, my baby is amazing and I am so blessed to have another opportunity to do this.

After our last pregnancy loss, Nick and I were unsure if continuing to add onto our family is what was best for us. So, we prayed about it and “Let Go and Let God.”

At Baby-Friendly designated facilities, breastfed newborns are given only their parent’s milk, unless there is a medical reason to supplement or a parental request.

One of the key reasons: Avoiding unnecessary supplementation protects the establishment of a breastfeeding mom’s milk supply, which is critical to meeting her goal.

Newborn bellies are tiny and easily filled. When a baby is given a supplement, they breastfeed less. That means less milk production.

Less milk can lead to more supplementation, which reduces stimulation further. Ultimately, this can compromise milk supply and lead to early weaning.

The research bears this out: babies who are supplemented before discharge are twice as likely to stop breastfeeding altogether within the first six weeks of life.

At Baby-Friendly designated facilities, staff have the training to respond to feeding concerns with skilled assessment and support, helping ensure that breastfeeding is going well, baby is getting plenty of milk, and mom is set up to meet her long-term feeding goals.

The Wisconsin Doulas Association Southern Region is excited to invite doulas from across the area to our upcoming Doulas & Donuts meet-up! 🍩☕

This gathering is designed to create space for doulas to:
• connect with one another
• network and build relationships
• share local resources
• strengthen regional collaboration
• support newer doulas entering the field

Birth work can sometimes feel isolating, especially when you’re navigating on-call life, running a small business, or trying to grow your community connections. That’s why WDA Regional Coordinators are intentionally creating opportunities for doulas to gather, learn from one another, and build stronger local networks throughout Wisconsin.

Being a NICU mom can be one of the most challenging things that we face as a parent. In the moment, you can start to question a lot of things, but putting faith forward is what got me through our NICU journey. ❤️

No one should have to go one this journey alone. Reach out to a close family member, friend, doula or even get to know your child’s care team. Be strong and pray.🙏🏻

Happy Easter from our family to yours!
