A couple of weeks ago, we launched our second Early Adopter round for Innovio.

Since then, we've shipped sets, welcomed new supporters, and received incredible encouragement from families, educators, and community members who believe in the power of hands-on play.

We're still accepting orders, but the Early Adopter phase won't be open forever.

Every Innovio set is currently 3D printed, packed, and shipped by us as we continue refining the product and preparing for larger-scale production.

A small milestone for Innovio. 🚚🧱

A few weeks ago, these were just thousands of individual 3D printed parts spread across our apartment.

Today, they became 12 complete Innovio sets, packed up and shipped to early supporters, classrooms, and families.

Every block in these photos was printed, sorted, counted, packed, and shipped by the two of us. Seeing Innovio leave our workspace and head out into the world is an incredible feeling.

Most toys today teach kids to consume, not create.

So we built something different.

Innovio started as an idea between two college students who believed play should mean:

• building

• problem solving

• creativity

• teamwork

Not passive entertainment.

After testing with 350+ kids (ages 4–10), we saw something powerful:

• Kids stayed engaged longer

• They collaborated naturally

• They kept coming back to build more

That’s when we knew we were onto something.

We took that feedback and went back to work, refining the system, improving the pieces, and strengthening the overall experience.

Now, Innovio is officially live again!

We’re opening our second Early Adopter Launch.

Innovio is a hands-on building system designed to develop creativity, critical thinking, and social skills through challenge-based play. Instead of telling kids what to build, we give them the tools and let them lead.

Building toys shouldn’t always tell kids exactly what to make.

A lot of play systems today are built around instructions, fixed outcomes, and one “correct” answer. Once the build is finished, the play often stops there.

We kept noticing the same thing during playtests.

Some kids wanted more direction.
Some wanted bigger challenges.
Some naturally started creating stories and team-based games on their own.
And some just needed a small prompt to spark an entirely new idea.

That’s what led us to develop the innovio Challenge Cards.

Instead of step-by-step instructions, the cards are designed to encourage creativity, collaboration, critical thinking, and imaginative problem solving through open-ended prompts and challenges.

Some challenges are simple.
Some are intentionally difficult.
Some are cooperative and designed for group play.

The goal was never to tell kids what to build. It was to give them a reason to keep exploring.

Introducing innovio.

innovio is a modular play system designed to help kids create, collaborate, and explore through open-ended building and storytelling.

The idea for innovio came from frustrations we kept noticing during playtests and conversations with parents and teachers. We saw kids losing interest in toys after only a few uses, more play becoming centered around screens, and a growing number of building toys that told kids exactly what to make instead of encouraging imagination.

Over the past few years, we’ve been developing innovio alongside teachers, parents, and more than 350 children through real playtesting sessions. During those sessions, we consistently saw kids naturally working together, solving problems, creating stories, and building things we never could have predicted ourselves.
That experience became the foundation for innovio.

Rather than focusing on instructions or predefined outcomes, innovio is designed to encourage experimentation, creativity, storytelling, and collaborative play. The goal has always been to create something that feels open-ended enough for kids to truly make their own.

We’re excited to finally start sharing more of what we’ve been building and where we hope to take it.
