Real Patient Case Study: Sugar Cravings That Finally Stopped

One of my patient's biggest frustrations wasn't just her weight—it was the constant sugar cravings.

Like many women, she thought she just needed more willpower.

But when we looked at her labs, we found something else.

Once we addressed her insulin resistance and got her insulin levels under better control, her sugar cravings improved dramatically—without relying on medication.

That's why I spend so much time looking at fasting insulin, not just glucose or A1C.

🎥 In today's video, I walk through her (de-identified) labs and explain what they revealed.

👇 If you deal with constant sugar cravings, you may want to check out my insulin reset, which goes over the exact protocol I teach my patients.

Ever feel like your sugar cravings are completely out of your control? 🍩

What if it isn't a lack of willpower?

One of the biggest reasons I see women struggle with constant cravings is the blood sugar and insulin roller coaster. When you understand what's happening inside your body, you can finally stop fighting your cravings and start working with your metabolism.

In today's video, I explain one of the biggest reasons this happens and how getting your insulin under control can help you break the cycle.

🍩 Why Do I Crave Sugar All the Time?

Do you feel like you're constantly craving something sweet?

Maybe it's the cookie after lunch.

The chocolate in the afternoon.

Or the ice cream you can't stop thinking about after dinner.

Many people assume it's simply a lack of willpower.

But that's not always true.

Persistent sugar cravings can be a sign that your body is struggling with insulin resistance—a condition that makes it harder to regulate blood sugar and can leave you craving quick sources of energy.

The good news?

There are simple lifestyle changes that can help reduce cravings naturally and improve your metabolic health.

I've written a new article explaining:
✔ Why sugar cravings happen
✔ How insulin resistance may be contributing
✔ Five practical steps you can start today

Have you ever put off getting lab work because of the cost?

You're not alone.

One thing that surprises many people is that the price of lab work can vary dramatically depending on where it's ordered. In many states, including Kentucky, labs may be marked up before they ever reach the patient.

That often leaves people wondering:
"Do I really need these labs, or are they just to make money off me?"

The good news is that there are another option.

Consumer-direct lab companies allow you to order many common lab tests yourself—often at a fraction of the price. You simply choose the tests you want, visit a local collection site, and receive your results online, along with educational information to help you understand what each result means.

I've had many patients use these services to make lab testing much more affordable.

Knowledge is powerful, and cost shouldn't keep you from learning what's going on inside your body.

Have you ever compared the price of the same lab test at different places? The difference can be surprising.

For years, I knew something didn't feel right.

I had many of the classic symptoms of low thyroid, but every time I had my labs checked, I was told they were "normal."

Technically, they were.

But eventually, after looking at the whole picture—not just one lab value—I started a low dose of thyroid medication and noticed a significant improvement in how I felt.

That experience changed the way I care for patients.

Now, I regularly meet people who have been told everything is "normal," yet they're still struggling with fatigue, brain fog, difficulty losing weight, cold intolerance, and other symptoms.

Lab results are important, but they're only one piece of the puzzle. Your symptoms, medical history, and the overall pattern matter too.

Have you ever felt like you knew something was off, even though you were told your labs were normal?

👇 I'd love to hear your experience.

Have you ever been told...

"Good news! Your labs are normal."

But instead of feeling relieved, you felt frustrated because you know something still isn't right.

I hear that story almost every week.

That's exactly why I created my FREE guide:

📋 The 5 Labs I Always Check (and What They Really Mean)

Inside, I'll walk you through:
✔️ Five labs I commonly review
✔️ Why they matter

"Your labs are normal."

If you've ever heard those words but still felt exhausted, struggled to lose weight, dealt with brain fog, or just didn't feel like yourself...this video is for you.

One of the biggest misconceptions I see is that normal doesn't always mean optimal. Sometimes the right labs weren't ordered, and sometimes the results need to be interpreted in the context of your symptoms—not just a reference range.

I dive deeper into this in my newest Balanced Health Library article.

Have you ever been told your labs are "normal"...but you still don't feel like yourself?

You're exhausted.

You can't lose weight.

You have brain fog.

Your hair is thinning.

Yet every time you have bloodwork done, you're told:

"Everything looks normal."

This is one of the most common conversations I have with new patients.

In my newest article, I explain three reasons why normal lab work doesn't always tell the whole story, including the difference between standard lab reference ranges and the clinical targets I commonly use when evaluating my patients.

Plus, at the end of the article you can download my FREE guide:
"The 5 Labs I Always Check (and What They Really Mean)."

If you've ever wondered whether your lab work deserves a second look, I think you'll find this helpful.

One of my favorite supplements for insulin resistance is berberine.

Berberine has been studied for its ability to support healthy blood sugar levels and improve insulin sensitivity. It works on many of the same metabolic pathways as metformin, which is why I don't typically recommend taking both unless there's a specific reason to do so.

One of the reasons I love this particular berberine is that it's extended release.

That means:
✔️ Supports healthy glucose levels throughout the day
✔️ Only needs to be taken once each morning
✔️ No need to remember a dose with every meal

If you'd like to try the same berberine I recommend to my patients, you can order it here: https://f.mtr.cool/fyscvjkcdw

Always check with your healthcare provider before starting a new supplement, especially if you take medications for diabetes or blood sugar.
