There’s a lot of advice out there about summer health, but not all of it is true.
Let’s clear a few things up:
☀️ SPF 50 isn’t drastically better than SPF 30 (only about a 1% difference in protection)
☁️ Up to 80% of UV rays can still reach your skin on cloudy days
🏊‍♀️ Swimming after eating? Completely safe if you feel okay
🌞 A “healthy tan” doesn’t exist, tanning is actually a sign of skin damage
Simple, informed choices can go a long way in protecting your health this summer.
If you have questions about sun safety or your skin health, we’re here for you.

So, what is the recommended daily fiber intake?
🥗 Women: 25–30 grams
🥗 Men: 35–40 grams

Focusing on a balance of nutrients throughout the day can make a meaningful difference in how you feel.

Did you know that cooked rice can become unsafe if not handled properly?
Madison Odom, PA, let's us know that uncooked rice can contain spores of a bacteria called bacillus cereus, which can survive the cooking process. If cooked rice is left out at room temperature for too long, these bacteria can grow and increase the risk of foodborne illness.
To reduce your risk:
⏱️ Cool and refrigerate rice within one hour
🔥 Reheat thoroughly until steaming hot
⚠️ Avoid reheating rice multiple times
🚫 Discard rice if it develops a slimy texture, sour smell, or discoloration
Unlike some foods, rice may not always smell spoiled or look moldy when it’s unsafe, so proper storage is key.

May is Women’s Health Month, and today Dr. Priya Shah is talking about menopause and your options.
Not every approach starts with hormones. In fact, many women find relief through:
✨ Lifestyle changes like regular exercise and limiting caffeine and alcohol
✨ Dietary adjustments, including foods rich in phytoestrogens like tofu and soybeans
✨ Supplements such as black cohosh
There are also non-hormonal prescription options available. And for some women, hormone replacement therapy may be the most effective solution.
Every woman’s experience with menopause is different, which is why personalized care matters. If you’re navigating symptoms, a conversation with a provider can help you find the right path forward.
