This is what focus on the positive really means. Glass half full, whatever you want to call it, choose your thoughts and seek out the good things, because they are there.

A story about a young adult client being coached virtually with direct, observable results.

Sometimes the biggest wins don’t look big from the outside… but they’re everything.

Sitting in the driver’s seat.
Starting the car.
Driving in the parking lot.

Trying something new—even for 15 minutes.

That’s confidence building through ā€œdoingā€ one step at a time. That’s nervous system growth and stretching capacity.

This is what we celebrate.
Small steps → real progress → lasting independence.

*Love on the Spectrum* is a show that beautifully portrays the reality and innocence of relationships. It presents the dating journeys of individuals on the autism spectrum with immense respect and sensitivity, offering us the opportunity to view love from a fresh perspective.
The relationship between Connor and his mother is one of the most endearing aspects of the show. The bond they share feels incredibly genuine and deeply heartfelt. His mother's patience and understanding are clearly evident, instilling confidence in Connor at every step of the way.
His mother stands by Connor's side at all times—whether he is navigating new experiences or facing difficult moments. Her support, love, and trust demonstrate just how powerful a source of strength family can be for any individual.
The respect and sense of belonging inherent in this relationship serve as an inspiration to everyone. It teaches us that true love is not confined solely to romantic partnerships; it is equally profound and precious within the bonds of family.

This is a real text thread taken from a group chat in the Regulated Parent online coaching program, earlier in the week.

I started writing this post as a tribute to OT month before April is over, and I realized in the process that I began my parent coaching program journey in April 2023. I can’t believe it’s 3 years old this month!

I’m blessed to receive these kind of messages often, through my work as an occupational therapist. OT has given me a vehicle to go so many places, and do so many things; and I’m nowhere near done yet.

During the last week of OT month, I’m going to share some more of my favorite client messages illustrating how this important work impacts their lives. The OT profession has given me so much, and I am lucky I found it all those years ago, in a book I just happened to pick up and flip through, at my best friend’s house. I suppose, really, OT found me. Either way, WE… are partners, and definitely meant to be.ā¤ļø
