I’ve spent 15 years and thousands of dollars in training to tell you this one thing for free:
Your body needs to feel safe enough to heal. Period.
In pelvic floor PT, that means we don’t just focus on the single symptom that brought you in. We start with a full assessment that includes:
How you breathe and manage pressure through your ribs, abdomen, and pelvic floor
How your pelvic floor responds to gentle internal assessment, coordination, and movement
How your nervous system is behaving (for example: are you bracing, gripping, or holding your breath with every movement? You may not even realize it).
From there, we use evidence-based tools to calm the system and address root causes, like:
Pelvic floor down-training (teaching overactive muscles how to let go, not just “tighten”)
Manual therapy and myofascial work to release trigger points and protective tension
Breathwork and positioning to support your “rest and digest” state
Graded strength and movement training so your body can rebuild trust in real-life movement
We also practice trauma-informed, affirming care, where consent, pacing, language, and boundaries are prioritized in every session.
So when I say your body needs to feel safe enough to heal, I’m referringn to real, measurable changes in muscle activity, nervous system regulation, and how your brain connects to your pelvic floor, not just a “think positive!” mindset shift.
If you’re dealing with leaking, pain, or pelvic heaviness and you’ve been told to “just relax” or “try some Kegels”, pelvic floor PT offers a different, whole-person approach.
