Cairos Coaching

Cairos Coaching Midlife, meet your moment. I’m Shannan Hanson, founder of Cairos Strategies. Menopause caught me by surprise.

Helping women navigate change with coaching, community, and tools to stay confident, connected, and thriving in life and work. After 20+ years building and leading teams in tech startups, I found myself at a crossroads, burned out and craving work that aligned with my passions and purpose. That’s when Cairos was born: a space for women to navigate midlife transitions and for women-led businesses t

o define success early. Even as an athlete, my body, mind, and confidence shifted. I know what it feels like to be alone, unsure, and unheard. That experience drives my work: helping women find clarity, strategy, and impact personally and professionally. Through Cairos Coaching, Community, and Consulting, I guide women to:

Understand and embrace life’s changes

Build actionable strategies for growth

Connect with supportive communities and resources

Midlife is not a pause—it’s an opportunity for reflection, growth, and transformation. Cairos is here to help women navigate it with honesty, humor, and heart.

What a truly wonderful night. Thank you to everyone who came out for the screening of The M Factor: Before the Pause and for contributing to such an honest, thoughtful conversation. My hope is that you left with new information, renewed hope, and a deeper sense that you are not alone. I loved seeing all of the conversations and connections before the movie started.

A heartfelt thank-you to our incredible panelists, and a special shout-out to Jenine Wright and FitLife for providing such a beautiful, welcoming space for us to come together.

A few key takeaways from the evening:

Relationships matter, and communication is key

This stage of life can put new pressure on relationships. The gray divorce is real. Invite your spouse or significant other into the conversation. Even in same-sex couples, experiences can be very different. Don’t assume they understand. Share openly. You may be surprised by the support you receive.

Advocate for your health
Many providers still lack training in perimenopause and menopause care. If you don’t feel heard or supported, find another caregiver. You deserve knowledgeable care, and don't be surprised if you know more than your doctor.
Here is the Patient Advocacy Guide that Magen mentioned to help in your conversation with your provider:
https://mysticvalley.podia.com/patient-guides

Start with the foundations
Before adding more supplements or treatments, look at the basics: hydration, sleep, nutrition, exercise, mindfulness, and community. Take inventory of what you’re doing now and make adjustments from there.

Libido and sexual wellness
There are many options you can explore with a certified provider, including simple at-home approaches such as vibratory therapy for a few minutes a day. Words like va**na, cl****is, and or**sm should be part of everyone's vocabulary.

Strength training is essential
It supports bone health, muscle mass, metabolism, and long-term independence. It is never too late to start, and the sooner you begin, the more your future self will benefit.

Community changes everything
For too long, many of us believed we just had to push through alone. “I just don’t feel like myself” is not something to ignore. It’s a signal worth exploring, and chances are, many women around you feel the same way. Let's not only start the conversation but also keep it going.

Advocacy at the state level
If you want to support menopause awareness efforts in Massachusetts, learn more about Bill H.4838: https://malegislature.gov/Bills/194/H4838. This bill will require more training for doctors, make services accessible for all women regardless of socioeconomic status, and provide workplace accommodations and policies.

I was leaving a Pilates class when I overheard a woman say she’d gone to her doctor because she keeps gaining weight even though nothing in her life has changed.

The advice?
“Eat less and exercise more.”

I was so angry.

For all the conversations about menopause, there are still so many that aren’t happening. Every day. To smart, capable women who know their bodies and know something is off. In exam rooms, at work, even among friends. And when there’s no explanation, women are left thinking they’re doing something wrong.

You’re not.

Perimenopause can feel like your body has suddenly stopped following the rules. The sleep issues, anxiety, brain fog, weight changes, rage, sadness...the Zone of Chaos is real. And most of us were never taught to expect it.

I was reminded exactly why education, honest conversation, and community matter so much.

I’m honored to be hosting a screening of The M Factor 2: Before the Pause (Perimenopause).

I wish I knew then what I know now. I would have advocated for myself very differently, and I would have given myself much more grace.

If you’re in it, heading toward it, or love someone who is… join us. Bring a friend. Bring your partner. Bring your questions. Because the more we understand, the less alone this feels.

The Official Trailer for the M Factor 2.0 - Before The Pause is Out!

Here is a preview: https://vimeo.com/1146029172

This film is produced by incredible powerhouse women - [Denise Pines](https://www.linkedin.com/in/denisepines/), [Tamsen Fadal](https://www.linkedin.com/in/tamsenfadal/), [Joanne LaMarca Mathisen](https://www.linkedin.com/in/joanne-lamarca-mathisen-coach/), and Jacoba Atlas.

I am honored to be working with thePause.ai founder, Susan Sly, who is featured in this important movie discussing data disparities in women's health and why using old data could cause incredible harm in building AI models.

New research points to perimenopause symptoms starting as early as age 30. Unlike menopause, which is often defined by the cessation of me**es for one year, perimenopause has no such precise timeline.

I will be attending a screening in Boston on February 4th hosted by [WHOOP](https://www.linkedin.com/company/whoop/), where Susan and other experts will host a panel discussion after the screening. I will have more information in the upcoming weeks regarding time and location, but I wanted to make everyone aware.

Reach out with any questions, and please forward to any and all women who can benefit from this knowledge. I personally suffered way too long in perimenopause before recognizing and getting help. Information is power!

Let's create change,
Shannan
