When should you start thinking about prostate cancer screening? There isn’t one answer that fits every man. Your age, family history, race, and other risk factors can all play a role in determining when screening should begin.

For many men, a conversation about PSA testing begins in the 40s or 50s. Men at higher risk may benefit from discussing screening earlier. The most important step is knowing your risk and having an informed conversation with your healthcare provider. Learn more here: https://conradpearson.com/mens-urology/psa-screening/

Living with uterine fibroids can affect much more than your period. Heavy bleeding, pelvic pressure, pain and other symptoms can interfere with everyday life.

But surgery isn’t the only treatment option. Uterine fibroid embolization (UFE) is a minimally invasive procedure that can shrink fibroids while preserving the uterus. Learn how UFE works and whether it may be an option for you.

Learn about uterine fibroids, common symptoms and treatment options, including minimally invasive uterine fibroid embolization (UFE).

Early prostate cancer usually has no symptoms at all. When symptoms do show up, they can include changes in urination, blood in the urine or semen, or ongoing pelvic discomfort.

Most of the time those symptoms come from something other than cancer, such as an enlarged prostate or an infection. That is still worth knowing. Do not wait for symptoms to think about screening, and do not ignore changes when they appear. Learn more here: https://conradpearson.com/cancer/prostate-cancer/

Did you know that when prostate cancer is detected early, while it is still confined to the prostate, the five-year survival rate is nearly 100%?

Early detection can make a meaningful difference. Because prostate cancer often does not cause noticeable symptoms in its early stages, it’s important to understand your risk and talk with your doctor about whether PSA screening is right for you.

At Conrad Pearson Clinic, our Prostate Cancer Center of Excellence provides advanced diagnostics, personalized treatment options, and expert care for men with prostate cancer. Learn more here: https://conradpearson.com/cancer/prostate-cancer-center-of-excellence/

Not every man has the same risk for prostate cancer. Knowing your personal risk can help you have a more informed conversation with your doctor about screening.

Factors that may increase your risk include:

• Age: The risk of prostate cancer increases as men get older.
• Family history: Having a father, brother, or other close relative with prostate cancer can increase your risk. Certain inherited genetic conditions may also play a role.
• Race: Black men have a higher risk of developing prostate cancer and are more likely to develop it at a younger age.
• Genetics: A family history of prostate, breast, ovarian, pancreatic, or colorectal cancers may sometimes point to inherited cancer risk.

Understanding your risk is the first step. Talk with your healthcare provider about when prostate cancer screening may be appropriate for you. Learn more here: conradpearson.com/mens-urology/psa-screening

September is Prostate Cancer Awareness Month, and there is no better time to book the conversation than right now.

Prostate cancer is one of the most common cancers in men, and it often has no symptoms in its early stages. For average-risk men, a conversation about PSA screening may begin between ages 45 and 50. Men at higher risk, including Black men and those with a strong family history of prostate cancer, should discuss screening earlier, around ages 40 to 45. A simple talk with your provider is all it takes to get started. Call Conrad Pearson this week and start September a step ahead. Learn more here: https://conradpearson.com/cancer/prostate-cancer/
