Recently, I gave my first presentation on the deeper Benefits of Massage.

Most people are familiar with the physical, mental, and emotional benefits:
🔸 Reducing stress and lowering cortisol
🔸 Easing anxiety and boosting calm
🔸 Relieving pain and inflammation
🔸 Loosening tight muscles and increasing flexibility

During the presentation, however, I also introduced a fourth essential layer: the spiritual benefits. ✨

To me, "spiritual" simply means that all is connected. A conflict in our physical, mental, or emotional bodies inevitably impacts the others, creating disharmony in the spiritual body—the container that holds it all.

Through my personal journey and years of working with clients, I’ve seen a clear connection between life experiences and physical tension. I’ve often worked with people experiencing pain that seemingly arose out of nowhere.

Creating space to explore the deeper root causes has led to powerful breakthroughs. It reveals how unresolved life experiences can create physical holding patterns across different planes of the body.

Witnessing how impactful this deeper understanding is led me to develop a specialized session called Alignment Theory™, designed to help uncover unrealized conflicts that may be affecting overall well-being.

There is no true separation between our mental, emotional, and physical selves. Our thoughts shape our emotions, which can produce tension or discomfort in the physical body—and vice versa. Ultimately, this cycle shapes how we experience and move through life.

Bodywork is more than relaxation; it is a sacred space for listening.

By honoring the mind-body connection, we begin to uncover how our daily experiences settle into the tissue and how restoring harmony in one area ripples through the whole self.

Whether your path to alignment is through intentional massage therapy, quiet meditation, grounding walks in nature, or mindful movement, empowering yourself to tune into these connections is where genuine healing begins.

Take a moment today to pause, check in with all of your layers, and ask your body what it needs to feel fully aligned. 🌿

I truly love the work that I do.

Providing healing bodywork and assisting clients with not only physical relief, but a whole body alignment. My goal is to help you achieve the peace you need to thrive in every area of your life.

Grateful for these recent words from my clients:

"You're not a massage therapist, the way you dissect and follow the fascia, you're a surgeon. Thanks for a wonderful session. See you soon!" - Chiropractor, 90-minute Deep Tissue w/ hot stones

"When I go to the mall, it's like a rock concert; but when I come here, I feel like a symphony." - CH, 30-minute chair massage

"Where do I begin? Edmund's energy was subtle, professional and to the point. The Alignment Theory session was incredibly powerful as it prepared all aspects of me and my physical body to release what was being stored as heavy emotions from childhood. I woke up the next day feeling so light, cheerful and full of energy. I felt revitalized and restored. I highly recommend giving the Alignment Theory session a try if you are dealing with stuck pain, emotion or trauma, including a deep tissue massage. Edmund knows what he's doing, and he does it very well! Worth the money and the experience alone." - AB, Alignment Theory 180-minutes

Smyle's Roots

While going through some old papers I found these, which took me back to Smyle's first industry.

True story...When I was about 10 or 11 years old, my dream was to one day become a Lawyer maybe even a judge. In school, I learned about Thurgood Marshall, who was the first African American justice of the US Supreme Court. I thought to myself, I could do that too.

While researching how to become a lawyer, I found out I needed about 8-12 yrs of school after high school. Needless to say, I decided that becoming a lawyer was not for me.

Sometime after that, my cousin Greg taught me how to fry an egg and I fell in love with cooking. In 1999, when I was 15, with the help of my mom, Smyle's Caterers was born. After about 2 years of cooking for others, I decided not to pursue becoming an Executive Chef. Also, the hospitality classes were pretty boring.

I still had another career during this time as a Nursing Assistant but let's fast forward to 2012. My mother was enrolling at the Cleveland Institute of Medical Massage and asked me to take the course with her.

Reluctantly, I decided to give it a shot. I went to the Day classes and the Evening classes were for her.

Guess what!? I fell in love with Massage, a holistic way to assist the body in returning to its "natural symmetry of inner peace".

The Anatomy and Physiology class severely kicked my butt. But I had found my true passion. No giving up. In May of 2013, I graduated school. In August of 2013, I received my license. In December of 2013, Smyle's Touch was born.

My first job was providing chair massages for an Employee Holiday Luncheon at Baldwin Wallace University. There were six therapists including myself. We did about over 60 sessions in about 90 minutes.

Throughout the years, I've collaborated with DFAS (3 yrs), The Ronald McDonald House (5 yrs), Baldwin Wallace University (10 yrs), American Greetings (11+ yrs), and many others.

In 2022, I found a small studio in Mentor, OH to start building a physical practice. I still travel to clients and businesses on a weekly basis across Northeast Ohio and beyond.

Now it's 2026; 12+ years later, I still love what I do, assisting others in feeling better - physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.

Remember your roots.

Reflect on your beginnings.

Realize how far you come and all that you've accomplished.

If you still love what you do, keep going!!

- Edmund (Alex)
