This is exactly why I was drawn to this work. So often, the difference between someone staying safely in the home they love and having to leave it isn’t their ability. It’s the home itself. Really glad to see this conversation happening here in Johnson County. 💙

That's Kay Findlay, who spent months visiting Johnson County homes as a clinical specialist for CAPABLE, a program that fixes the physical barriers keeping older adults from living safely on their own. Kansas ranks 47th out of 48 states for the share of nursing home residents who need only minimal care — people who can still cook, clean and use the bathroom on their own.

Assisted living and nursing home costs in the Kansas City area run from over $2,000 to more than $10,000 a month. CAPABLE ran about $4,000 total per person.

The Johnson County pilot ended in April, and the interfaith Good Faith Network is now pitching managed care organizations to fund a new one.

Some footage from my time with Human Care learning how to safely install and use patient lifts. And yes, that meant taking a turn in the sling ourselves. 😂

There’s something really valuable about experiencing the equipment from the customer’s perspective. How does it feel? What makes you feel secure? What might make someone nervous?

The more we understand the experience, the better we can take care of the people who trust us in their homes.

We are lifting the standard. 💙

The event features a controlled course marked with cones, a formal start and finish line, and small, specialized cars that the children can steer themselves.

A little behind the scenes at Liftology Kansas City!

Our new home is officially taking shape! In just a few weeks, this construction zone will become our office, showroom, and warehouse as we get ready to serve families throughout the Kansas City area.

We had fun working through some of the design details today with Spaces Inc., and it’s exciting to finally see everything we’ve been planning start to come together.

Lots happening behind the scenes. We can’t wait to show you the finished space!

I'm excited to finally share some news!

After more than 25 years leading operations and field teams in retail, I made the decision to start a new chapter as the OWNER of Liftology Kansas City!

This business is deeply personal to me. I've seen how quickly life can change, and how important it is for people to be able to remain safe, independent, and comfortable in the homes they love. That's exactly what Liftology is here to help with!

We'll provide home accessibility solutions like stair lifts, wheelchair ramps, vertical platform lifts, wheelchair & scooter lifts for vehicles, patient lifts, and more to serve our neighbors throughout the Kansas City area.

We're still putting the finishing touches on everything behind the scenes, including training, building our warehouse, and preparing our showroom for our official opening in Sept. But I thought it would be fun to bring you along for the journey!

On this page, I'll be sharing:

• Home safety and accessibility tips
• New products and technology
• Stories that celebrate independence and mobility
• A few milestones (and probably a few lessons learned!)
