Most parents think a myofunctional evaluation is just about looking under the tongue.

But that's only one small piece of the puzzle.

A true myofunctional evaluation looks at how your child breathes, swallows, rests their tongue, uses their facial muscles, sleeps, and even their developmental history. We connect the dots to understand why symptoms like mouth breathing, picky eating, restless sleep, speech concerns, or tongue tie may be happening.

Because treating symptoms without understanding the pattern often leads to frustration and sometimes relapse.

Our goal isn't just to determine whether a tongue tie is present. It's to identify the root cause and create the right plan for your child. And when needed, we'll guide you to the right specialists, whether that's an ENT, airway-focused dentist, orthodontist, or bodyworker.

💬 Comment "MYO" and we'll send you the next steps to schedule an evaluation.

In honor of Breastfeeding Awareness Month… 🤍
As an SLP and infant feeding specialist, I see every day how powerful breastfeeding can be. But becoming a mom really changed my understanding forever.
When I found out I was having twins, I remember thinking, How am I ever going to do this?
So I made one promise to myself: one day at a time. One feed at a time.

Many feeds were at the breast. Tandem, or one after the other. And when I needed a break, they had a bottle. That didn’t mean I failed at breastfeeding. It meant I was giving myself enough grace to keep going.

I wish more moms knew that breastfeeding doesn’t have to be all or nothing. Exclusive breastfeeding is incredible. Combination feeding can be too if that’s what allows you to continue.

Every drop matters. Whether you breastfed for two years or two weeks, you gave your baby something incredibly valuable.

Looking back, I’m not most proud that I breastfed twins. I’m most proud that I gave myself permission to do it imperfectly and that allowed me to keep going. That’s a lesson I’ll always carry with me, both as a mom and as a clinician. 🤍

"At 12 months, milk doesn't need to become the new formula."

One of the most common things I see in feeding therapy is toddlers drinking so much milk that they never have the chance to feel hungry enough to eat meals.

Milk is nutritious, but it's also filling. When offered throughout the day, it can unintentionally suppress appetite and reduce opportunities to practice eating a variety of foods.

This doesn't mean milk is bad. It means milk has a job—and so does food.

After the first birthday, our goal shifts from relying on milk for most nutrition to helping toddlers build the skills and confidence to eat a balanced diet alongside appropriate milk intake.

Have a toddler who seems picky but drinks lots of milk? Start by looking at the schedule before assuming it's a feeding problem.

Purees are not the problem; getting stuck there can be.

One of the biggest misconceptions I see is that babies need to master purees before moving on to more textured foods. In reality, chewing skills develop through practice. Babies learn to chew by experiencing different textures, not by staying on smooth foods for months.

Every texture provides a different opportunity for oral motor development, sensory learning, and food acceptance. While every child progresses at their own pace, introducing age-appropriate textures during infancy helps support the development of the skills needed for eating family foods.

Save this post for your solids journey and share with a parent who's nervous about making the jump beyond purees. ❤️

As both a myofunctional therapist and a mom, this one is personal. ❤️

Reading my own son's sleep study was a reminder that normal oxygen levels don't always mean normal sleep.

If your child snores, mouth-breathes, or wakes up tired, this carousel is for you.

Save this post for later and share it with a parent who needs to see it.

Feeding evaluations are about much more than watching a child eat. They help uncover the why behind feeding challenges so families can move forward with a clear plan.
