The 2026 ADA Standards highlight the importance of looking at older adults with diabetes through a broader, person-centered approach.
That means considering:
Mentation — Can they manage the plan?
Medications — Is the regimen too complicated?
Mobility — Can they safely function day to day?
What matters most — What are their goals and priorities?
This is a powerful reminder:
Good senior care isn't one-size-fits-all.
The goal isn't simply to manage a diagnosis.
It's to help the person live as safely and independently as possible.
