A survey of centenarians found that many share the same healthy habits:
🌿 Eating whole, nutritious foods
💪 Strength training to stay strong
🚶 Regular walks
🌱 Gardening and spending time outdoors
🧘 Practicing meditation or mindfulness
👥 Staying socially connected with family and friends

These simple, consistent habits support not only a longer life but a healthier, more independent one.

Did you know a senior can exercise for 30 minutes and still spend enough time sitting to affect their health?

New research shows that too much sitting may impact blood sugar control, circulation, and muscle strength, even in older adults who exercise regularly.

The good news? Small “movement snacks” throughout the day can help.
- Stand up every 30–60 minutes
- Walk for 1–2 minutes
- Do 5 chair-to-stand repetitions
- Stretch during TV commercials

These simple habits can support better metabolic health, stronger legs, improved balance, and greater independence.

Everyone deserves to feel at home—especially those living with dementia.

In the Netherlands, a remarkable village has reimagined dementia care by replacing clinical settings with a vibrant community where caregivers play the roles of neighbors and local shopkeepers. The result is a place where residents can continue enjoying daily life with dignity, familiarity, and connection.

Sometimes, the greatest form of care is helping someone feel like they belong.

Could a simple blood test help identify dementia risk before symptoms begin?

Researchers at King’s College London found that measuring a person’s “biological age” through blood markers may help predict dementia risk years earlier than traditional symptom-based diagnosis.

Earlier awareness could give individuals, families, and healthcare providers more time to focus on brain-healthy habits, regular monitoring, and personalized prevention strategies.

While more research is still needed, this is an encouraging step toward earlier detection and better support for aging adults.

Have you noticed that some seniors seem more confused, anxious, or restless at night?

This can happen for several reasons:

🌙 Changes in sleep cycles can make it harder to stay rested and alert.
🧠 Dementia and Alzheimer's disease may affect how the brain processes time and surroundings.
😴 Fatigue from the day can make confusion more noticeable in the evening.
💡 Low lighting can create shadows and make familiar environments seem unfamiliar.

This phenomenon, often called "sundowning," is common among people living with dementia. Maintaining a consistent routine, ensuring adequate lighting, and creating a calm evening environment may help reduce nighttime confusion.

Understanding the cause is the first step toward providing comfort and support.

Home is more than four walls.

It’s where memories were made, traditions were shared, and comfort feels familiar.

For many seniors, remaining at home provides emotional security and peace of mind that simply cannot be replaced. Familiar routines and surroundings can help support overall wellbeing and provide a greater sense of stability.

Home care allows seniors to receive personalized support without leaving behind the place they love most.

At A Touch of Love Home Care, we bring compassionate care into the home so seniors can continue feeling comfortable, supported, and valued every day.

❤️ Because the best care often begins at home.

Have you ever noticed that cuts, bruises, or recovery from illness can take longer as we age?

There’s a reason behind it.

As we get older, circulation may slow down—meaning oxygen and nutrients take longer to reach injured areas. The immune system also changes with age, making it harder for the body to respond and repair as quickly as before.

That doesn’t mean healing stops—it simply means the body may need more time, proper nutrition, hydration, movement, and support during recovery.

Aging changes the process, not the body’s ability to heal. ❤️
