Hello! I’m a Christian travelling therapist with an extensive background in trauma focused therapy, family therapy, at risk children (advocacy in schools and court) to the geriatric population and dementia. I am trained in multiple modalities, including but not limited to: CBT, DBT and TF. I will officially be accepting clients June 1st. I will have several evening times available! At this time, cash services only.

The holiday season is the perfect storm for meltdowns and tantrums. This can be SO frustrating for parents when they are simply trying to create happy memories for their children,
WHY???

(1) A child’s brain is more easily overwhelmed by sensory input (due to an underdeveloped hippocamus and thalmus)

(2) They lack the emotional awareness adults do. Children who can’t identify their emotions or their needs may get easily overwhelmed.

(3) No coping skills: It’s hard to manage your emotions if you don’t have the skills.These take time to learn and master

(4) Unrealistic expectations: there may be pressure to get dressed up, take perfect family pictures, and be in a good mood for meals and events when that may not be how they are feeling inside

Justifying your actions doesn’t leave room for acknowledging someone else’s feelings…
In a conversation or argument it helps to acknowledge how the other person feels and how you feel. Sometimes our feelings are bigger than our maturity

It’s ok to take five… calm down, acknowledge your feelings, acknowledge someone else’s feelings, think thru the situation, revisit the conversation

Hello! If you are here it’s not a mistake! Everyone including myself has room for growth. I have worked extensively with families, ‘last chance’ children advocating, teaching, and educating families, children, schools and courts.

I specialise in trauma informed care.

I am a Christian and happy to share your journey with faith and prayer during each session. (If you do not want faith involved, I respect your choice.).

I have experience with the geriatric population, couples counseling, family counseling, at risk children and individual clients.
