Quick break from trying to convince you to buy my cookies so I can tell you where some of the chocolate in them comes from.

A lot of it starts at Tickled Sweet in Milford.

One thing I want Post Traumatic Shef Disorder to do as it grows is support other local businesses whenever I can. If I can buy a great ingredient from somebody right down the road instead of clicking a button and having a box show up at my door, that is an easy choice.

And this is not charity. Their chocolate is damn good.

They make artisan chocolates, fudge, chocolate bars, caramels and a whole lot of other things that make it very difficult to walk out with only what you went in for. Their shop is at 317 Main Street in Milford.

So if you’ve eaten one of my cookies and enjoyed the chocolate, go meet some of the people helping me make them.

Stop into Tickled Sweet, buy yourself something, tell them PTShefD sent you, and support another small business in our community.

Just try not to buy all the chocolate before I get there.

Tomorrow morning, the walk-up bakery is open.

Starting at 7:00 AM, I’ll have three cookie flavors available:

Browned Butter Malted Chocolate Chunk
Deep browned butter flavor, malt, plenty of chocolate, and flaky salt.

Double Chocolate Fudge
Dark, rich, intensely chocolatey, and basically my answer to anyone who thinks a cookie cannot be decadent enough.

Peanut Butter Salted Caramel
Rich peanut butter cookie with salted caramel inside and flaky salt on top.

Here’s how the walk-up works:

Come to 7930 Daniel Ave, Camp Dennison, OH 45111 starting at 7:00 AM.

When you get here, ring the doorbell and I’ll come out to help you.

No preorder is required for the walk-up inventory. Everything is first come, first served and available while supplies last.

If you want to guarantee cookies for a future date, you can still preorder at PTShefD.com.

But for tomorrow morning, just show up hungry.
7:00 AM until sold out.

9/11. Never forget.

We will never forget the tragedy. We will never forget the lives that were lost. We will never forget where we were when it happened.

For me, this was a day that shaped my childhood and ultimately changed the direction of my life.

But sometimes I wonder if we have forgotten what happened on 9/12.

On 9/11, we were reminded just how vulnerable we could be. On 9/12, we stood together.

We didn't care what someone looked like. We didn't care who they loved, what political party they belonged to, or who they voted for. We weren't looking for reasons to divide ourselves. We were Americans, and we stepped up to protect and take care of one another.

People hung flags from their homes. Strangers helped strangers. Communities came together. We checked on our neighbors. We mourned together. We were angry together. We were scared together. But most importantly, we stood together.

Never forgetting 9/11 should mean remembering the people we lost and honoring the heroes who ran toward danger when everyone else was trying to escape.

But maybe it should also mean remembering 9/12.

Remembering what this country looked like when our differences suddenly seemed a lot less important than the person standing next to us.

Twenty-five years later, I wish we could find a little more of that again without needing a tragedy to remind us that we are all in this together.
