WORLD SERIES CHAMPIONS!

What a moment for our city! Congratulations to the Milwaukee Brewers on an incredible season and bringing a championship home to Milwaukee!

Beyond baseball, this is a reminder of what teamwork, determination and community can accomplish.

At the Prostate Health Equity Project (PHEP), we’re proud to represent a city that continues to show up, support one another and push toward a brighter future.

Just like on the field, having the right people in your corner makes all the difference. Whether it’s celebrating a victory or encouraging a loved one to prioritize their health, we’re stronger when we look out for one another.

Congratulations, Brew Crew! Milwaukee is proud!

One city. One community. A healthier Milwaukee.

Prostate cancer affects men across Wisconsin, but its impact isn't felt equally.

During a recent conversation with Homer and Bailey on 101.7 The Truth, Dr. Izzard discusses an important reality: while prostate cancer is diagnosed throughout Wisconsin, prostate cancer death rates are disproportionately high in communities like Milwaukee and Racine, where many of our state's Black men reside.

He also shares why caring for Black men requires an intentional approach that recognizes the disparities they face and the importance of building trust, improving access and having meaningful conversations about screening and early detection.

At the Prostate Health Equity Project (PHEP), this is exactly why our work matters. We're committed to meeting men where they are, increasing awareness and helping ensure Black men have the information and support needed to advocate for their health.

Where you live shouldn't determine your health outcomes.

A special thank you to Dr. Izzard and the team at 101.7 The Truth for continuing to bring these important conversations to our community.

Join us as we continue the conversation at the Pink & Blue Health Summit!

Some of the most important health conversations start within our own families.

Ms. Deb Nevels reminds us why men need to have open conversations with their fathers, brothers, uncles and grandfathers about their family health history.

Understanding that history helps us become better informed, ask the right questions and have more meaningful conversations with our healthcare providers about screening and early detection.

And these conversations work both ways. A history of breast cancer on your mother’s or father’s side can also provide important insight into your prostate cancer risk. Certain inherited genetic changes can increase the risk of both cancers.

At the Prostate Health Equity Project (PHEP), we’re encouraging families to break the silence, share their experiences and become better advocates for their health and one another.

We’ll be continuing this important conversation alongside 101.7 The Truth at the upcoming Pink & Blue Health Summit!

Your family’s health history matters more than you may realize.

Did you know that breast cancer and prostate cancer can share inherited genetic risk factors?

Certain genetic changes, including BRCA1 and BRCA2, can increase the risk of both cancers. That means a history of breast cancer in your family could also be important when understanding your prostate cancer risk.

And remember, family history matters on both your mother’s and father’s sides.

At the Prostate Health Equity Project (PHEP), we encourage families to have open conversations about their health, understand their risks and take an active role in prevention and early detection.

We’re excited to continue this conversation alongside 101.7 The Truth at the upcoming Pink & Blue Health Summit!

Sometimes the most important thing we can do for someone we care about is simply show up for them.

Victor Barnett shares the story of a close friend who lost his life to prostate cancer and reminds us why having a strong support system matters throughout our health journeys.

Whether it’s encouraging a friend to schedule a screening, accompanying a loved one to an appointment, or simply checking in, having someone who holds us accountable can make a meaningful difference.

And that support goes both ways. When we encourage someone else to prioritize their health, we also become more informed, more aware of our own risks and better equipped to advocate for ourselves.

At the Prostate Health Equity Project (PHEP), we’re working to make these conversations more common among Black men and create a community where no one feels they have to navigate their health journey alone.

We appreciate Victor for sharing his friend’s story and helping us continue this important conversation.

Be your brother’s keeper. Check in. Follow up. Show up.

Sometimes a simple conversation can be the encouragement someone needs to take that next step.
