This journey was about so much more than earning a degree.It was sacrifice, growth, healing, and becoming.

Coming from 53206, I didn’t realize I was growing up in survival mode because it felt normal. But I refused to let my environment decide my future.

Against the odds, I became Dr. Mickell Dent. And that is Black girl magic in real life.

I’m grateful for every version of myself I had to outgrow to get here.

To anyone listening, don’t let people define who you will become. And if they try, show them who you ARE!

The moment is here.
What started as a dream, a prayer, and a commitment to keep going… has become reality.

This journey stretched me, grew me, and reminded me that purpose will always require courage. And now, I get to walk into this next chapter as Dr. Therapist Mickell D.
Thank you to everyone who supported me, believed in me, challenged me, and loved me through the process. I do not take this moment lightly.

I’ve won awards.
Traveled the world.
Built relationships across every level.
Earned every degree… now Dr. Dent.

And I’m basking in all of it.

But some moments… I just sit and cry.

Because my brother isn’t here to see any of this.
His baby sister is a whole Doctor… and he won’t be at my graduation.

My heart still aches.

God, I’d cash in all my good karma just to see justice for my brother.

I carry both.
The joy and the grief. The wins and the weight.

Where I come from, we were taught to protect the predator and condemn the pain.
