What is it like to live in an Oxford House?
New members join the participatory democracy of the house with an equal vote as soon as they walk in the door. Decisions are made based on a simple majority.
Each member is expected to grow in their program of recovery, maintain their fair share of household expenses, and hold a house officer position if elected by their peers.
Best of all, there is no time limit on living in an Oxford House. As long as members continue to meet the expectations of their house, they can stay as long as they need to build a strong foundation in recovery.
