Before we got to anything deep, I had to tell her she looked like she was about to have her school picture taken. While we definitely talked about the sacred, we laughed the whole way there.

I started this show because I had questions nobody was asking out loud. Questions about the spiritual practices of everyday people and how they use them to stay connected to the divine (however they define that).

For a year I've been posing those questions to ordinary people. People with jobs and grief and kitchen tables. And they've been telling me about candles and singing bowls and morning walks, and so many other things.

What I found is that a lot of us have something... a ritual we keep, a place we return to, a few minutes that belong to no one else. What are yours?

The wisdom is in the episodes. And somewhere in there is a practice waiting to become yours.

Most of us think of a legacy as something you leave behind.

My guest sees it differently. For her, it's something her granddaughters are watching her build right now — in real time, one afternoon at a time.

So when the oldest one asked her to come skating, she bought skates. At 70. Never having skated in her life.

That's the inheritance. Not what she leaves them, but what they saw her do and what she did alongside them while she was here.
