I went into yoga looking for a quiet place to fight the voice that was destroying me. The voice that was getting so loud inside my mind that was leading me to self destruct.

On those quiet Monday nights at the Yoga Center Retreat, for nine months, I took a pause every week to retrain my mind to work for me, not against me.

I found Yin Yoga and Yoga Nidra as the best methods to sit with myself every week. And I believe this is why my clients come back to train their minds and body to support their souls purpose.

I don’t believe we need to know our purpose before we start, but we must create the conditions for it to have space to fully express itself.

I spent this morning on a podcast being interviewed by my former student, Pang.

I’ve known her for almost a decade now, and it’s been such a gift to watch her grow into the woman she is today. I’ve watched her navigate mental health challenges, relationship struggles, financial hardships, and so many moments that could have made her give up. But she never stopped moving forward.

Her questions reminded me of the young, insecure, people-pleaser in me who, in her twenties, concealed her anxiety with alcohol.

The young woman who numbed herself around others just to fit in.

The young woman who held so much anger and resentment inside that, late at night, those emotions would jolt her awake because they had never been given the space to complete their course.

The young woman who listened to The Delilah Show on 102.9 every Friday night at 7:00 PM to soothe a soul that was starving for the loving words she never heard growing up.

As a mentor, there is nothing more rewarding than watching someone you’ve known since they were young step fully into their own power and become who they were meant to be.

Sitting across from Pang today at the Women’s Foundation, being interviewed by her, was one of those full-circle moments that reminded me why I love working with young people. We are always teaching each other. We are always learning from each other.

So proud of you, Pang. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to reflect on and share parts of my mental health and healing journey. ✨🙌🏼🥳💚

This week’s yoga schedule:
Wednesday ( 5:30-6:30pm )- Yin to Nidra
Friday (6-7pm) - Yoga Nidra
Saturday (9-10:15am) - Yin Yoga

Our Yin to Nidra class gives you the best of both, 30 minutes of stretch to 30 minutes of rest, leaving you feeling relaxed and grounded.

The Yoga Nidra class is 60-minutes and you come to lay down, cocoon yourself, feel safe and held as you’re guided into a deep rest and visualization meditation, ending with an energy healing session. Ideal for those lacking sleep, overthinking, overwhelmed and just need a moment to reset.

The Yin Yoga class is a full 75-min session where we hold 2-5 minutes, following our breaths, listening to our body, and allowing time and gravity to get us deeper into our soft tissues. Ideal for those who find themselves sitting too much and experiencing lower back pain or those lifting and exercising but not enough time to focus on flexibility.

Classes are limit to 6 people. All yoga mats and props provided.

I’m so EXCITED to share that this summer, Soul Ya Yoga will be partnering with Indigenous Roots Cultural Arts Center as a practitioner at the Eagle and Condor Native Wellness Center! 🌿✨

A heartfelt thank you to Maryanne for your trust, support, and belief in this work. Opportunities like this are possible because of people who continue to champion healing, community, and connection.

Beginning June 9th, I will be offering Thai Yoga Bodywork & Energy Healing in East St. Paul (near Metro State University).

This summer, we're taking a group of 14 Hmong women up to the Boundary Waters for a full immersion to get out of auto-pilot and do something "hard". We'll be led by Wilderness Expect, Lee Vue. Fed by our very own private chef, Jaye Parker. Held in community by our Group Facilitator, Nou Yang. And come back home to ourselves with yoga and meditation by Ka Zoua.
