Days: 74-82

Transplant Days: +37- +45

We completed our 2nd week being outpatient! We continue to attend clinic visits twice a week for labs and follow-ups. They have been making adjustments to meds and they added magnesium this week as that has been low. This week Jace had a pretty significant increase in his liver enzymes so the team continues to watch those labs and will make med adjustments as needed. It is our hope they don’t go any higher to keep his liver healthy and processing meds as they need to.

Last weekend family came to visit! Natalie and Brooke had a girls day together while the boys hung out— followed by a movie night in the theater at RMH! We watched “Space Jam!”
🍿 🏀

Our family was matched with the Macalester College Football team (Macalester College)here in St. Paul as part of “Team Impact.” They have been fantastic! They send two players & coaches to have dinner with us weekly at RMH. They also came to visit Jace in the hospital before he wasn’t allowed to have visitors. Due to now having post-transplant isolation protocols, we aren’t able to attend large events to be with the team. However, they have really made the best of the situation and include us the best they can! They invited us to team dinner before their game today and had a special place for us to sit away from others. 🏈

The NMDP is very important to their team. They host a donor swab drive every single year to help find bone marrow donor matches! One of their players, Paxton (pictured with Jaxon) donated his bone marrow to an an anonymous individual in Boston at the start of their season in August! 💚 We are so thankful for his gift! 🩸

❤️Thank you all for your continued support & prayers.

Thank you to all of the wonderful organizations that have left a lasting impact on our family & many others! ❤️

Although a lot has changed since we interviewed for this story a year ago, many things have not. We still call Masonic & Ronald our 2nd home. Cub, Row the Boat & TB1F continue to give endlessly to patients & families like ours.

Days: 68-73

Transplant Days: +30 - +36

It has been a week since discharged. We are adjusting nicely back at RMH. Jace is improving each day with eating and his strength overall. He is still struggling with nausea and fatigue. Both are to be expected post transplant and take time, but both frustrate him.

We attend clinic every other day for labs and appointments. Two of his levels have been low so some meds are being adjusted. They did decide to stop the lipid component of his TPN infusions. We are hoping once he is taking more fluids that we can switch the TPN to fluids or more tube feeds. Today his nurse came to change his dressing and caps on his Hickman line. This is done each week.

We have had a few visitors which has been wonderful! Our friend Chef Daniel came to RMH two nights to cook for families- it was AMAZING! Jace is enjoying his snuggle time with the house dog, Bernie! It’s great PT for Jace! 🐾

✨ Lastly, we wanted to send a sincere THANK YOU to the Hayward community that rallied together to send Jace cards, hats & candy! It was so heartwarming & meant so much! ❤️

❤️Thank you all for your continued support & prayers.

Transplant Days: +27/ +28/ +29

We are so excited to share that after nearly 40 days, Jace has been DISCHARGED! 🙌🏽 We are adjusting to life back at Ronald McDonald House for the remainder of the year as we navigate healing, follow-up appointments, blood work, Etc.

We are so happy this day has come! In the BMT world, patients need to remain isolated & under close watch as their immune system grows & heals for at least 100 days.

❤️Thank you all for your continued support & prayers.

Jace continues to improve with each day! Yesterday was filled with so many great things!

📚🍎 1st Day of School with Ms. Andrea! He is enrolled in hospital based school services via Minneapolis Public Schools!

🏈 Donovan Jackson from the Minnesota Vikings stopped by to visit Jace! He was the kindest soul!

🎨 During Art Therapy, Jace created Gopher pillow cases!

🏋️‍♀️ During PT, Jace went up to the wellness space to exercise!

👨‍⚕️ We said see you later to one of Jace’s favorite nurses, Macs. He loves Gopher Fball as much as we do so we know our paths will cross another day!

Overall, he has made great improvements- •tolerating 4-6hrs of feeds via his gtube & very small quantities of food/drink

•transitioning IV meds to gtube

Hoping to soon bust out of here to continue our next several months of recovery at RMH. After our 6th week of being inpatient the walls are definitely starting to close in! ❤️‍🩹

First, we wanted to thank you for all of your love & support as we navigate this Journey! Your support has been overwhelming in the most fulfilling way! We are very appreciative for the love! We truly feel it each day ❣️

We wanted to show you how your support fills Jace’s room. The love & encouragement is so touching!

We had a great weekend as a family! 🤍 We watched a movie together, took short walks outside, played a game & put together Legos!

Jace’s counts have dropped as the team indicated they would- but he is still holding his own. The best news is that Jace ate Ramen noodles & 5 french fries!! He also started feeds via his g-tube last night & it was well tolerated for 4hrs! Another step towards discharge! 🙌🏽
