🎉 Join us in celebrating a milestone! The Alabama Department of Rehabilitation Services (ADRS) invite you, our cherished families and friends, to commemorate the 36th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) this Sunday, July 26th!
Signed into law by President George H.W. Bush on July 26, 1990, the ADA opened doors to freedom and opportunities for countless individuals with disabilities. It leveled the playing field, granting access and opportunities that many had only dreamed of before.
For ADRS, the ADA was a game-changer, aligning perfectly with our mission to empower Alabama’s children and adults with disabilities to reach their full potential.
ADRS Commissioner Jane Elizabeth Burdeshaw highlights the ADA's impact, saying, “The ADA put a spotlight on the needs of people with disabilities, and we continue to shine that light by raising awareness about how ADRS and its children's and adult programs can support those needs with our specialized services.”
Let's honor this incredible legacy together and continue to advocate for equal opportunities and accessibility for all!
