One of the hardest parts of parenting is not knowing what to do in the moment.

The moment your child is screaming.
The moment they hit their sibling.
The moment they refuse to listen.
The moment you can feel yourself getting overwhelmed too.

Most parents aren’t lacking love. They’re lacking understanding.

Children’s behavior makes sense when we know how to look at it. What often looks like defiance, manipulation, attention-seeking, or disrespect is frequently a child communicating a need, a stressor, or a skill they haven’t developed yet.

When we stop asking, “How do I make this behavior stop?” and start asking, “What is this behavior telling me?” everything begins to shift.

That’s where I come in.

I help parents understand their child’s behavior, respond with confidence, and build stronger, more connected relationships with their children.

Because every child deserves to feel understood, and every parent deserves support.

If you’re feeling stuck, I’d love to help.

We had an excellent workshop yesterday on understanding children’s behavior. Thank you to everyone who joined us and contributed to such a thoughtful discussion.

If you weren’t able to attend, I’ve shared many of the key ideas in this blog post.

Children’s behavior is often communication. When we learn to look beneath the behavior, we can respond in ways that promote connection, emotional regulation, and growth.

I’d love to hear your thoughts. What is one behavior your child does that you wish you understood better?

Children can behave in ways that confuse us. Whether that is a tantrum out of nowhere or a kick to the shins, we find ourselves asking, “Why aren’t you listening? Why are you acting this way?” And those questions often lead to deeper, more challenging questions like, “What am I doing wrong?....

Every parent carries ghosts from the nursery.

Moments from childhood when we didn’t feel seen, understood, comforted, or safe have a way of following us into adulthood and showing up in our parenting.

The good news? We are not stuck repeating the past.

Healing ourselves, caring for ourselves, and understanding our own reactions helps us become more emotionally available to our children.

My newest blog post explores how the way we were parented influences the way we parent, and how we can begin to break unhealthy cycles.

Parents often parent how they were parented.Obviously, it’s not that simple. What I mean is that every person has ghosts from the nursery, times during their upbringing when their needs were not being met. And these ghosts follow us into parenting, often from generation to generation. You may take ...

Are you tired of your child ordering you around? Would you believe even toddlers are capable of using their manners? Sometimes our children don't act according to their family's values. Here's how to get your child to not just say "please" and "thank you" but how to also teach them empathy and consideration for others.

It’s More Than Just Telling Them to Say “Please”I like to believe we live in a polite society, but it can always be more polite. One of the ways we create a kinder and more considerate world is by teaching our children how to use their manners from the very beginning.Children, even toddlers, a...

Sometimes our children act in ways that don't match your family's values. Today we will learn that toddlers are capable of using manners, if we consistently model them and teach them how to use their manners. Here is a helpful way to teach manners to your young children.
