βοΈ Stay Safe During This Week's Extreme Heat! βοΈ
With temperatures soaring this week, it's important to take extra precautions to protect yourself and your loved ones from heat-related illnesses.
π§ Tips to Stay Cool:
β’ Drink plenty of water throughout the day, even if you don't feel thirsty.
β’ Stay indoors in air-conditioned spaces whenever possible.
β’ Wear lightweight, light-colored clothing.
β’ Avoid strenuous outdoor activities during the hottest part of the day (10 AMβ4 PM).
β’ Never leave children or pets in a parked vehicle, even for a few minutes.
β’ Check on older adults, young children, and those with chronic medical conditions, as they are at greater risk.
π¨ Know the Signs of Heat Stroke:
Heat stroke is a medical emergency. Call 911 immediately if someone has:
β’ A body temperature of 103Β°F or higher
β’ Hot, red, dry, or damp skin
β’ Confusion, slurred speech, or unusual behavior
β’ Loss of consciousness
β’ Seizures
β’ Rapid, strong pulse
If you suspect heat stroke, move the person to a cooler area and try to cool them with cool cloths or a cool bath while waiting for emergency responders.
