🍫 A bittersweet announcement from Chi Chi Chocolates

Six years ago, an unexpected idea brought together Traditional Chinese Medicine, organic chocolate, and a shared mission to make Chinese herbal medicine more accessible.

Born during the pandemic, Chi Chi Chocolates became something truly unique: artisan chocolate bars infused with traditional Chinese herbal formulas, inspired by the Five Elements, Yin and Yang, and the wisdom of Chinese medicine.

What started around a kitchen table grew into a journey that reached more than 250 acupuncture clinics and health food stores across the United StatesπŸ’š

Today, our founders β€” Dr. Kerry Boyle, Jonathan Fleming, and Swiss-trained chef Jean-Luc Jenni β€” have made the difficult decision to pause production and begin winding down operations as they focus on their work in acupuncture, patient care, and education.

But perhaps this isn’t the end of the story✨

We would love to connect with someone passionate about Traditional Chinese Medicine, herbal education, artisan food, or mission-driven entrepreneurship who might be interested in carrying Chi Chi Chocolates forward.

Most of all, THANK YOU. To every practitioner, distributor, retailer, and customer who believed in our vision, stocked our bars, shared our story, or took that first adventurous bite β€” you helped make this journey possible.

Thank you for being part of the Chi Chi Chocolates story❀️

A tick bite. A red meat allergy. And a surprising new approach πŸ‘€

Alpha-Gal Syndrome (AGS) can cause delayed allergic reactions to beef, pork, lamb, and other mammalian products β€” sometimes hours after eating.

Now, there’s an emerging approach worth exploring: SAAT (Soliman Auricular Allergy Treatment), a specialized form of auricular acupuncture.

In one retrospective study, 96% of patients with available follow-up reported symptom remission after treatment. Promising? Yes. Proven? More research is needed.

πŸ“… October 13, SAAT is coming to Integrative Acupuncture in Vermont!

We believe in sharing the research, the possibilities, and the limitations β€” so you can make informed decisions about your health.

Have you heard of Alpha-Gal Syndrome?

πŸ”Ž DID YOU KNOW?

Your food cravings may be viewed as clues about patterns in the body β€” not simply a lack of willpower.

🍬 SWEET
In TCM, the sweet flavor is associated with the Spleen and Stomach systems. A strong craving for sweets may be seen alongside signs of Spleen Qi deficiency, such as fatigue, bloating, brain fog, loose stools, or feeling heavy and sluggish after eating.

πŸ§‚ SALTY
The salty flavor is associated with the Kidney system. A craving for salty foods may sometimes appear alongside feelings of depletion, exhaustion, low motivation, or difficulty recovering from prolonged physical or emotional stress.

🌢️ SPICY
Spicy or pungent foods are associated with the Lung and Large Intestine systems. Their dispersing quality may explain why spicy foods can feel appealing when you're congested, cold, or feeling sluggish. However, people experiencing heat, reflux, irritation, or dryness may respond differently.

πŸ‹ SOUR
The sour flavor is associated with the Liver system. In TCM, sour has an astringent and contracting quality. Sour cravings may be considered alongside patterns of Liver Qi stagnation, which can be associated with stress, tension, irritability, frustration, or feeling emotionally stuck.

✨ The important part?
In TCM, a craving is a clue, not a diagnosis. The same craving can have different meanings depending on the person's overall pattern, symptoms, lifestyle, and health.

πŸ€• That familiar feeling of pressure behind your eyes. A tight forehead. Aching around your temples, cheeks, or jaw.

Maybe your neck and shoulders feel tense, too.

When sinus congestion and headaches arrive together, it can be difficult to know exactly what is causing the discomfort β€” and what will actually help.

πŸ’†β€β™€οΈ Massage therapy can be a gentle, relaxing way to address some of the muscular tension that accompanies headaches and facial pressure.

But what feels like a sinus headache isn't always caused by your sinuses. Migraines can cause nasal congestion, facial pressure, and watery nasal discharge, making them easy to confuse with sinusitis.

🌿 Our latest blog, β€œMassage Therapy for Sinus Pressure and Headaches,” explores:

β€’ How massage may help with muscular tension
β€’ Swedish, deep tissue, trigger point, and myofascial release massage
β€’ A Traditional Chinese Medicine perspective on headaches
β€’ What current research says about massage and headaches
β€’ Gentle self-care and acupressure techniques
