In every job that must be done there is an element of fun.
You find the fun, and snap!
The job's a game.
And every task you undertake becomes a piece of cake.

This is a Mary Poppins song I have loved for as long as I can remember, and it makes a simple point. Any task, no matter how tedious, has a bit of fun hiding somewhere inside it, if you are willing to go find it. π
I take that seriously. So seriously that I have what I call my "side quests." These are the little detours my mind takes when a task starts to feel tedious. A tangent here, a distraction there, except I do not call it slacking off anymore. I call it play. β¨
So it might look like dishes done while lost in a podcast. Errands turned into a scavenger hunt for something new. Even chores starting to feel less like obligation and more like a little game you get to play with yourself.
Here is why I think this matters more than it seems. Play like this is not a distraction from real life, it is alignment. π It is a way of listening to what actually lights you up, even in the middle of something small. And when joy does not have to wait for the weekend to show up, life stops feeling so split in two.
π So here is an invitation. Pick one task on your list today, something ordinary, something you would normally just push through. What is one small way you could turn it into your own "side quest"? Drop your comments below. β¬
