Why is confidence so hard to find when your inner critic is running the show?

Because your inner critic has access to all your "secret files."

It remembers every mistake, regret, insecurity, and so on. It knows all the parts of you that you try to hide from others. So since it solely focuses on what's wrong, it easily convinces you that these secret files are the whole story.

Self compassion offers a more complete picture. The inner critic and its secret files don't have to define us.

✨ If you're a mom and you'd like to learn more about practicing self compassion, comment GROW and I'll send you information about & I's upcoming in-person workshop. Check out our last Reel for a chance to win a free spot through the raffle too.

🎨 If you'd like information about the Creative Compassion Group (for moms and non-moms), comment GROUP and I'll send you the details. It's an 8-week group where we'll explore mindfulness and self compassion skills to soften self criticism through reflection, and art.

What "evidence" does your inner critic keep bringing up about you?

The compassionate response framework - a practical way to begin responding to your inner critic with compassion instead of trying to fight it off.

This clip is from the live workshop I did back in March called From Self Criticism to Self compassion.

We talked about where the inner critic comes from, how it negatively impacts us, what self compassion is, and how to start meeting your critic with compassion to form a different relationship with it.

Comment "video" and I'll send you the link to the whole workshop recording!

Humans are social creatures so that means we’re wired for connection.

We grow and feel more grounded when we’re able to be around people who remind us that we’re not alone in our experiences.

With that said, spaces that create belonging, and community are so valuable. Especially in seasons of life that can sometimes feel isolating (like motherhood!)

Thank you to + .beaumont for creating spaces like this for moms and their little ones 🤎

Like with every mom group I’ve attended so far, I almost didn’t go because I felt nervous being new.

But this mommy + me event reminded me of how important it is to do things outside of your comfort zone, and of how welcoming people can be.

Plus, I love any event that’s centered around creativity 🎨

Thank you .collective for bringing so many moms together!

A little look into what we’ll actually be doing at “What You Carry, What You Grow”

This workshop is designed to be a supportive, creative space for moms to slow down, reflect, and reconnect with themselves with a little more compassion.

We’ll be exploring themes of:
🤍 self compassion
🤍 self forgiveness
🤍 growth
🤍 and letting go of some of the pressure so many moms quietly carry

Through guided reflection, conversation, journaling, and a creative terracotta pot activity, you’ll leave with both practical tools and something meaningful you created yourself.

A lot of moms are walking around carrying pressure, self criticism, and the feeling of never quite doing enough.

Being hard on ourselves can feel motivating in the moment, but it often comes with consequences like feeling exhausted and disconnected from ourselves.

Self compassion isn’t about avoiding accountability. It’s learning how to support yourself through hard moments instead of shaming yourself.

This is one of the things we’ll be exploring together at “What You Carry, What You Grow” — a creative self-compassion workshop for moms.

A lot of us think being hard on ourselves will help us grow or “do better.” We need the "tough love" to keep going.

But most of the time, it just leaves us feeling exhausted and never quite enough.

Part of the problem too is that many of us believe that self compassion is equivalent to self pity, weakness, or being lazy. Not true though! Self compassion is all about learning how to support yourself through hard moments instead of attacking yourself through them.

This is one of the things we’ll be exploring together at our upcoming workshop for moms, “What You Carry, What You Grow” 🪴

Comment "GROW" and we'll send you all the details to register! We'd love to see you there!

Motherhood is beautiful, AND at times can feel really heavy and overwhelming.

This workshop was created as a space to slow down, reflect, connect, and soften the self criticism so many moms experience each day 🤍

We’ll be exploring self compassion through guided reflection, conversation, and a creative terracotta pot activity centered on growth and self forgiveness.

And if you’re nervous about showing up alone, we get it. We’ve been there too showing up to new spaces alone. But there’s something really powerful about being in a room with women who understand the mix of emotions motherhood can bring.
