What does a Reiki session actually feel like?
If youâve been curious about adding energy work to your wellness routine but aren't sure what to expect, you aren't alone.
Reiki is a gentle, hands on or off, energy practice that helps your body feel safe enough to shift out of protection mode and into restâandâdigest. Our minds can understand weâre not in danger, but our bodies often stay braced, holding tight muscles, old stress, and that constant "fightâorâflight" buzz.
How it works:
In a Reiki session, Iâm not diagnosing or âfixingâ you, and itâs not a replacement for counseling or medical care. Iâm simply acting as a channel for Reiki energy, a universal lifeâforce energy that weâre all made of and allowing it to flow through my hands to help your own energy settle and rebalance. Itâs very grounded and natural, but thereâs also this beautiful, almost magical quality to it.
What you might experience:
While the nervous system is doing the quiet work of relaxing, the experience itself is where the magic lives. During a session, clients often report:
â˘A wave of comforting warmth, subtle tingling, or a sense of deep, meditative clarity.
â˘A feeling of floating or being deeply anchored to the earth.
â˘An emotional release, like a weight they've been carrying in their chest suddenly evaporated.
⢠Deep relaxation, or surge or energy after session is over
Ultimately, people often experience a session as their body finally exhaling and realizing, âIâm safe to let go, safe to feel, safe to release.â Whether that looks like deep relaxation, emotions surfacing, or gentle tears, it is your body returning to its natural rhythm.
