Did you know WCHC provides medical care right inside two Mount Vernon City Schools?

Our school-based health centers at Mount Vernon High School and Edward Williams Elementary School offer enrolled students care for unexpected health concerns, physical exams and immunizations.

Appointments and walk-ins are welcome during the school day while school is in session. That means more time learning for your child and less time away from work for you.

WCHC was proud to join Anthem’s Back-to-School Giveaway for the Yonkers community!

It was an amazing day of family, fun and community connection, with our team on hand sharing valuable health services and resources to help families start the school year strong. The day also brought together community leaders, including Senate Majority Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins and Westchester County Legislator Shanae Williams, all sharing in the spirit of supporting Yonkers families.

Over the past several weeks, we've had the opportunity to connect with families and neighbors across Westchester through health and wellness events, community outreach, our back-to-school backpack giveaway and more.

And one of the best parts has been seeing those moments through your eyes.

An important statewide conversation on breastfeeding disparities came to WCHC’s Yonkers health center today.

Westchester Community Health Center welcomed the New York State Department of Health for a National Breastfeeding Month press conference bringing together health care providers, public health leaders and community partners to address the barriers that continue to impact breastfeeding rates among Black families — and the support needed to close those gaps.

“Every mother deserves to feel supported, informed and respected as she makes decisions about how to nourish her baby,” said Dr. Judith Watson, RN, BSN, MPH, HD, CEO of Westchester Community Health Center. “Addressing breastfeeding disparities means removing barriers to care and ensuring families have access to support throughout pregnancy and beyond.”

At WCHC, that commitment is put into practice every day. Through Women’s Health, HealthySteps, Pediatrics, WIC and nutrition services, families can access care, information and resources throughout pregnancy, after birth and as their children grow.

We’re proud that WCHC’s Yonkers location served as the setting for this important conversation — and proud to be at the forefront of addressing the health issues that matter to the communities we serve.

🎒 COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIP IN ACTION! 💙

What a great day in Mount Vernon! We’re grateful to News 12 Westchester for partnering with Westchester Community Health Center and helping make today’s Back-to-School Backpack Giveaway possible.

Together with our community partners, approximately 450 backpacks filled with school supplies were distributed to local children and families—helping students head into the new school year prepared and ready to learn.

Thank you to the entire News 12 team for not only covering today’s event, but for showing up and investing in the families we serve. We truly appreciate your continued support of the Mount Vernon community.

And as families prepare for the school year, remember that WCHC is here all year long with back-to-school physicals, vaccinations and healthcare services for the entire family.
