I wish I had this information when I had my first baby! Bottles often require some trial and error - if you’re pregnant with your first, I’d recommend having 2-3 different options on hand to see which one your baby accepts best. Thank you to Anna, our OT/pediatric feeding specialist/CLC, who provided her professional insight on these options at Target!

When choosing a bottle, opt for:
🍼gradual sloped ni**le
🍼slow flow
🍼glass or silicone material if you prefer to avoid plastic

Always learning and training to bring the most specialized therapy to our clinic! Learning with Dr. Jenny Hobson at was transformative. We practiced every technique so she could provide specific feedback in real time. Myofunctional therapy is very multifaceted and I’m grateful for Dr. Hobson being in my corner!

We all love our kids the same amount, yet they are all different! One may be good at soccer and one may be good at piano. One may like broccoli and one may like chips. These are comparisons, just as it’s a comparison when one started talking at age 1 and one is 2 years old and not talking yet. It’s okay to notice that! The important thing is parents feeling heard and knowing they are supported if they have a concern 🤍

Pacifiers are a great tool for babies ages 0-6 months. Here are the recommended features to look for from an airway-focused SLP and myofunctional therapist:

🤍 Cylindrical shape
🤍 No bulb
🤍 No flat shape/orthodontic pacifiers

Love it or leave it - water bottle edition! Here’s what I look for in a great water bottle:

💧Either open at the top for sipping, or
💧Straw that is short, narrow and silicone
💧Ideally no valve, but okay if you need leak-proof
💧Stainless steel or glass

What questions do you have about water bottles?

The cups babies and kids use affect the way they swallow, the way their mouths develop, and even their speech! Here’s what to look for:

🥤Short and narrow straw
🥤Soft silicone straw (especially for babies/toddlers)
🥤Ideally no valve
