It is with the heaviest heart that I make this post. For everyone who knows us personally, you know that Allen and I love each other very much. We are soulmates...ordained by God to be together. I lost my precious husband last night to a medical emergency. I am devastated beyond what I can express and would appreciate your prayers. Please remember all the wonderful qualities that he had. He loved me deeply and this is a loss that I will never recover from. Please also keep our son in your prayers. He is heartbroken, too. To our friends and family, he loved you greatly. His heart and generosity for you all was one of his best qualities. He is still so very loved and will be missed deeply. Allen, I love you more than life itself.

In two months, CASA of DeKalb County has sworn in 8 volunteers to advocate for 11 children. When we look at the impact of serving 11 children, the numbers go far beyond the children themselves. In the child welfare system, every single child is the center of a complex “human network.”

When a CASA volunteer advocates for a child, they aren’t just working in a vacuum; they are collaborating with and influencing a massive web of adults. Based on national averages and common case structures, serving 11 children involves a collaboration network of approximately 165 to 220 people.
