🔴 Core Word of the Week: HELP
“Help” is one of the most powerful words a child can learn.
When children can communicate that they need assistance, they have a way to advocate for themselves, reduce frustration, and connect with others. Whether it’s opening a snack, reaching a toy, or solving a problem, “help” gives children a meaningful way to get their needs met.
✨ Try modeling “help” throughout your day:
📚 Books: Pause when a character has a problem and ask, “Do they need help?”
🎵 Songs: Add “help” to familiar songs like *If You’re Happy and You Know It* (“If you need some help, say HELP!”)
🍎 Snack Time: Give a closed container or difficult-to-open package and model “help.”
🧩 Play: Use puzzles, bubbles, wind-up toys, or building activities that may require assistance.
🧺 Daily Routines: Encourage “help” when getting dressed, cleaning up, or reaching for something.
Remember: communication isn’t just about requesting toys and snacks. It’s also about asking for support when we need it. 💛
