Happy Saturday everyone! First and foremost thank you to everyone who has reached out to me during the past few weeks due to my inactivity on this account. I truly appreciate the support and love. I wanted to hop on here and address the “why” factor that has lead me to becoming a bit silent. First off, I moved to the great state of sunny florida and I started a new job! 🙌🏽
Due to the confidentiality of my job, I am required to leave my phone at home. At first I thought I wouldn’t last because my phone is everything and more to me. (I know I’m not alone in that statement lol). I’ve been dealing with high levels of stress once checking my phone after the long work day and seeing, what feels like, thousands of notifications, All while trying to play catch up right before bed. This has caused me to realize many things about the power of social media and how it has this “hold” over our lives.
In the past I would feel pressured to post on Ophelia Wild at the same time everyday and be part of as many engagement groups I could find, all while overthinking the hashtags I used just to get noticed, to gain followers and more likes on every picture I posted. Followers and likes are what we live for on accounts like these and I’m here to say
1. FORGET ABOUT IT!
2. THROW THOSE THOUGHTS AWAY!
3. And most importantly, post what you want when you want!
We get so caught up in the likes and followers we receive and allow that to define our worth and value in this world. I knew I had to make a change when I realized this account felt more like a job than my passion. When I created Ophelia Wild over four years ago it was out of passion and love, and I’m proud to say that still stands true.
Thank you to those followers who have stuck by me for so long and still continue to do so. Being a mental health therapist, I feel it’s part of my duty to speak about the hard topics that have a strong affect on our wellbeing’s. Cheers to being a holistic foodie with a passion, I hope you never lose yours.
xoxo
