What a powerful afternoon at Samaritan’s Lunch & Learn: Stories of Recovery. An overflow crowd joined us to hear firsthand from Samaritan alumni Josh Moon, Head of Food Operations, Jonathan Pursley, Director of Admissions, and Shawn Parker, member of the Facilities Team, as they shared their journeys of recovery, hope, and transformation.

Moderated by Dr. Kevin Ulmet, the discussion highlighted the life-changing impact of community and support, while CEO Dr. Mark Lasko shared more about Samaritan’s distinctive programs and mission.

Thank you to everyone who attended and helped make this event so meaningful. The stories shared were a beautiful reminder that hope is alive and recovery is possible.

🚓 Samaritan welcomed an overflow audience to hear Lieutenant Mike Hotz, who leads MNPD’s Overdose Unit, discuss how his team supports Nashvillians experiencing addiction and helps connect them to recovery.

He highlighted a reduction in overdose deaths since 2019, while emphasizing the urgent need for more resources to combat increasingly sophisticated, accessible, and dangerous substances.

Among those resources are the Opioid Emergency Box and Emergency Kit— both provided free by the department.

It was an enlightening discussion with an important Samaritan partner. Thank you, Lt. Hotz, and your team for the work you do every day. 🚔

Lt. Hotz and Samaritan CEO Dr. Mark Lasko also recorded a podcast after the talk—catch it wherever you listen or on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/

Make plans to join us on 👉April 15👈 for our next Lunch & Learn, where Metro Police Lieutenant Mike Hotz will discuss law enforcement’s partnership with centers like Samaritan in supporting addiction recovery.
