Happy World Helicopter Day from SkyLife!

Our helicopter may be what first catches your attention, but every patient flight depends on a much bigger team. Pilots, flight nurses, flight paramedics, maintenance, communications, educators, and support teams all play a part in keeping our aircraft ready and our crews prepared.

Today we’re celebrating the aircraft, but even more importantly, the people behind every flight who make the mission possible.

Serving Cheatham County Together
TriStar Ashland City Medical Center has been there for the Ashland City and Cheatham County community with emergency care available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Their team provides local access to emergency services while staying connected to the larger TriStar Health network when patients need additional specialty care. Our SkyLife crews are grateful for the opportunity to work alongside the physicians, nurses and staff at TriStar Ashland City and help support patients when transport becomes part of their care.

With temperatures climbing into the triple digits, heat affects more than just the people working outside.
This large yellow hose supplies conditioned air to the aircraft while it is on the ground, helping keep the cabin cooler during hot weather. That matters for crew comfort, sensitive equipment and the environment we are preparing for our patients.
For everyone spending time outside this weekend, remember that heat illness can develop quickly. Take breaks, stay hydrated and pay attention to warning signs like dizziness, weakness, nausea, headache or confusion.
Take the heat seriously and look out for each other!

Originally from Columbus, Georgia, Kendal moved to Tennessee sixteen years ago and began her EMS career in 2013. This month, we’re celebrating Kendal’s two year anniversary with SkyLife! When she’s not working, Kendal enjoys swimming, walking, singing, dancing, traveling, cooking and all things fun. She even spent two years living on the Big Island of Hawaii! Kendal, thank you for the experience, compassion and dedication you bring to our patients and our team. We’re glad to celebrate this milestone with you and proud to have you at SkyLife!
