This past week at Nashville Center we celebrated an early Easter with tons of fun! We had Easter crafts for residents, an Easter egg hunt for staff, and an incredible Easter event featuring the Easter Bunny and live music for everybody! We hope all of our NCRH families and friends have a lovely Easter weekend!

Today, on International Women's Day, we take a moment to recognize and celebrate the incredible contributions of women around the world. We especially want to acknowledge our former patient, Gloria McKissack.

Gloria McKissack is an educator, public speaker, civil rights activist, and more. In 1968, she was the first African American teacher hired at West End Middle School after serving on several desegregation committees in the Nashville Public School System. She later was chosen to be one of the first African American faculty members at Hume Fogg Academic Magnet High School. She worked in high school and college settings, sharing her love of history with younger generations.

Her intelligence and kind heart lead her to pioneer Lighting the Path for Girls, an organization McKissack founded to support young girls as they walk through life. The program provides resources and opportunities to young women in Nashville and around the world.

Nashville Center would like to honor Gloria today by reflecting on her achievements and her unwavering support for women's rights and equality.

Today at Nashville Center, we celebrated Oktoberfest! We had pretzels with cheese and root beer floats! This yummy celebration was one for the books!
