Erin Brockovich is warning that America’s AI boom is moving faster than many communities can keep up with.

The environmental activist, best known for taking on contaminated water cases, has now turned her attention to the rapid spread of AI data centers across the United States. These massive facilities power the servers behind artificial intelligence — but they can also require huge amounts of electricity, water, land, cooling equipment, and backup infrastructure.

Speaking on *Amanpour and Company*, Brockovich said her team has received more than 10,000 submissions from residents in 49 states. Many people are raising the same concerns: they did not know a project was coming until it was already moving forward, and they worry about water use, electricity demand, noise, construction impacts, and long-term environmental pressure.

One of the biggest issues is transparency. In some towns, residents say they were left out of the conversation while decisions were being made about projects that could affect their utility bills, local water supplies, sleep, traffic, wildlife, and quality of life.

Brockovich is not saying technology should stop. Her message is that communities should not be the last to know.

Before huge data centers are approved, she argues there should be real public notice, environmental review, and honest answers about how much water and power these facilities will need.

AI may be the future — but the people living next door to that future deserve a voice too.

After being released, tracking data showed she traveled hundreds of miles back toward her home waters! Researchers later spotted her swimming happily with a young beluga, believed to be her calf. This incredible journey highlights the powerful maternal bonds of these beautiful marine mammals. 🌊✨
