Here are some key approaches to overdose prevention:
- Meeting people where they’re at by providing life-saving tools like Naloxone and test strips
- Connecting individuals to Medications for Opioid Use Disorder (MOUD/MAT), counseling, and behavioral health care
- Creating supportive communities by addressing underlying factors like trauma, mental health, social isolation, and health equity

UPDATE: National Night Out RESCHEDULED to SEPTEMBER 29th at Union Point

National Night Out has been RESCHEDULED for SEPTEMBER 29, 2026, from 5p.m. – 8 p.m. at Union Point Park due to anticipated inclement weather.

The rescheduled event will go on as planned, bringing together residents and local public safety agencies for family-friendly activities, safety demonstrations, and opportunities to connect with neighbors.

We appreciate the community’s understanding and look forward to seeing everyone on September 29th for our National Night Out celebration.

In many minority communities, talking openly about mental health or substance use can carry heavy shame. The words used at home, in faith spaces, and in neighborhoods can either isolate or support. Using person-first language reminds everyone that these struggles are health conditions and not character flaws.
