Living with Type 1 diabetes often means carrying an invisible burden. When it comes to adults with T1D, I’ve often heard “he/she’s not even overweight.” While many people with T1D may appear healthy on the outside, each day is filled with constant decisions, blood sugar checks, insulin dosing, meal planning, and the ever-present risk of highs and lows. There are no days off from this disease.
This year’s theme, “A Touch of Blue: The Strength You Don’t See,” reminds us that behind every smile is extraordinary resilience. It honors the quiet courage of those living with Type 1 diabetes and encourages others to look beyond appearances with greater understanding, compassion, and support.
