Breast cancer is the second most common kind of cancer in women. About 1 in 8 women born today in the United States will get breast cancer at some point.

The good news is that most women can survive breast cancer if it’s found and treated early. A mammogram – the screening test for breast cancer – can help find breast cancer early when it’s easier to treat.

Ladies, it is very important that you take time to take care of yourself. I know most of you have busy schedules either caring for your family or in the workplace, but please be sure to schedule your annual well woman visit as well as your mammogram. The American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology recommend annual mammograms beginning at 40. Of course, during your patient visit, we will discuss your personal risk and determine when it would be best for you to start doing annual mammograms.
