My dear friend Salou Ibaline’s book is now available for pre-order! I am delighted and so grateful to be one of the 28 immigrant women entrepreneurs that she has interviewed in this very special project. Each one of us has shared our story to educate, entertain, inspire and offer a glimpse into our individual paths as an immigrant woman entrepreneur, and with that comes a collection of cheer and challenges.
Mine include being able to fulfill my parents’ dream of graduating with a college degree, living in America, and having a stable job while growing my own business. This also means that my mom now lives in the USA as well, away from the familiar comforts of her life in the Philippines where she can visit siblings anytime she pleases, speak several dialects of the native language fluently anywhere she goes, run a household that she built with my dad, and grow older with neighbors in the community that raised us. This just the beginning of a conversation.
I’m thankful for all the sacrifices my mom made to allow me to have a good life Stateside and a great part of my goal as a daughter and as an immigrant woman entrepreneur is to return the favor and give her the best life and care possible.
