Before the fire remembers, it reveals.
Created for the cast and crew of American Horror Story: P3NTHOUSE, this collector candle begins its story in darkness…
At first, everything appears black.
The vessel.
The wax.
The surface.
Only when the flame has been given enough time does the candle begin to reveal what was hidden all along.
As the melt pool reaches the edge of the vessel, the flame is reflected across the black mirror beneath it and carried upward through the oxblood rim, forming a crimson halo that exists only for a moment. A circle of light hidden inside the darkness.
As above, so below.
The flame above…
its reflection below.
One cannot exist without the other.
As the candle continues its journey, that halo slowly disappears. The crimson wax begins to descend the vessel, finding its way to the surface beneath, where its true color is finally revealed.
The coaster becomes more than a resting place.
It becomes a witness.
Every drop leaves behind a trace of the ritual.
A memory.
Evidence that the flame was here.
Perhaps we are no different.
Within what appears dark, there is often a light waiting only to be reflected.
And when that light is allowed to pass through us, our truest colors are finally seen.
