Can we talk about the myth of the Strong Black Woman for a second?
She didnât just show up. She was built, brick by brick. By a world that refused to make space for her softness, her grief, her fear. By families where âtoughen upâ was said with love but landed like a door shutting.
And now she walks around with everyone elseâs needs in her arms and her own pain stuffed somewhere in the back of her body, wondering why sheâs exhausted all the time.
Sis. Thatâs not strength. Thatâs survival wearing strengthâs face.
Real strength? Real strength is saying âIâm not okayâ in a room where youâre expected to hold it together. Itâs making an appointment. Itâs letting someone in.
You can be powerful AND in need of healing. Those two things live together.
Swipe through this one because I put together the myths we were handed and the truths I want you to carry instead. đ
