What we eat doesn’t just affect the body, it connects to how we feel, too.
A cohort study published in Public Health Nutrition found that people with the highest fast-food consumption had a 51% higher risk of developing depression compared with people who consumed little or no fast food.
Researchers also observed a dose-response relationship: higher fast-food consumption was associated with greater depression risk. Importantly, this was an association, not proof that fast food directly causes depression.
This is one of the reasons I’m so passionate about upgrading processed foods with real, nutrient-rich ingredients from the earth. Your brain needs nourishment too.
