🌿 Okay cilantro lovers, this one is for you. 👀
There’s been a lot of conversation around Cyclospora and fresh produce, so I wanted to give you the information without turning it into something it isn’t.
North Carolina health officials have discussed cilantro and other fresh ingredients in connection with Cyclospora concerns, but cilantro has NOT been confirmed as the source of the current increase in cases.
New York is also continuing to investigate increased Cyclospora activity, and a specific food source has not been confirmed there either.
⚠️ So please understand what this post is saying and what it is NOT saying:
I am NOT saying all cilantro is contaminated.
I am NOT saying cilantro has been recalled across the board.
And I am NOT clearing other leafy greens or produce as automatically safe.
This is an awareness post while investigations continue. 💚
Now, if all of this has you looking at your cilantro sideways 😂🌿, here’s another option: grow some yourself!
You don’t need a backyard or a whole garden. Cilantro can be grown at home with seeds, a pot with drainage, potting soil, water and a bright window. Growing your own gives you more control over how it’s grown and handled, although homegrown produce still needs to be handled and washed properly.
🌱 Seeds → soil → water → sunshine → fresh cilantro.
Save this post for later, share it with your cilantro-loving friends, and I’ll continue keeping an eye on the investigations as more information becomes available.
