Had a great time at the American College of Surgeons meeting in Washington, DC, discussing how we can better tailor care for patients with DCIS, including the evolving role of active surveillance.

Thank you to Drs. Shelley Hwang and Kelly Hewitt for the invitation to participate, and to my fellow panelists, Seema Khan and Chandler Cortina, for an excellent discussion.

I especially appreciated having a patient advocate on the panel who has personally undergone active surveillance for DCIS for the past 19 years. Her perspective was an important reminder of the value of including the patient voice as we think about balancing treatment, surveillance, risk, and quality of life. Englewood Health

Such a fascinating and inspiring talk on cryoablation this morning at Englewood Hospital. ❄️Thank you, Dennis R. Holmes, MD, FACS for sharing your incredible experience, passion, and vision. I love learning from pioneers who are willing to challenge the status quo and move our field forward. So many thought-provoking discussions, from offering cryoablation to carefully selected, low-risk, healthy women, not simply as an option for women who are declining surgery or are too medically frail to undergo it, to exploring its potential in Stage IV disease and the theoretical abscopal effect. Thank you for expanding our ability to offer women more choices and truly patient-centered care, and to help us to look at breast cancer treatment in an innovative way. And congratulations on your new book, "Freeze Away Breast Cancer."

Thank you so much to Dr Andrew Hanna from Case Western Reserve University for speaking with us today about surrogate endpoints in oncology; such a treat after a talk by his father Dr Nader Hanna last week Englewood Health . Dr H gave us a fascinating and thought-provoking talk: Does an improvement in progression-free survival (PFS) always translate into patients living longer and/or living better? I always appreciate people like Dr. Hanna who are willing to challenge the status quo and push us to continually scrutinize not only the data, but also how we interpret it. These discussions are essential to advancing evidence-based cancer care and ensuring we remain focused on outcomes that truly matter to patients.

Great talk today at Englewood Hospital and Medical Center by Matthew Hanna from UPMC on AI in breast pathology. Curious to see how this impacts resident and fellow training in path, whether it will likely replace tools like Oncotype/Mammaprint, and if it will help us to identify overdiagnosed tumors.

Thank you to Nancy Chan MD from NYU Langone Healthfor a great discussion at Englewood Hospital and Medical Center on advances in ER-positive breast cancer, including efforts to expand the role of neoadjuvant therapy for more women with ER+/HER2− disease. The I-SPY trial Quantum Leap Health Consortium is a great trial to expand the role of NAT for pts. Glad to see such meaningful progress being made, with many novel agents on the horizon

Outstanding talk today at Englewood Health by Joseph Dayan MD, a true pioneer in the surgical treatment and prevention of lymphedema. Much of the focus in cancer care is on treating the cancer itself, but lymphedema is a chronic, often lifelong condition that can significantly impact patients’ quality of life. Advances in lymphatic reconstruction allow both treatment of lymphedema and risk reduction of lymphedema at the time of cancer surgery. Very excited as well about emerging work on GLP-1 agonists and their potential role in lymphedema prevention. Great talk.

We’re looking forward to the WISDOM 1.0 results on 12/12/25 at San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium to help inform how we can screen women more effectively—and excited for WISDOM 2.0 and 3.0 to come!
