Now introducing Human after all.

This reflective weekly podcast from Liberation-Based Therapy features audio notes and conversations on being, relating, and everything in between.

In this first episode, Tanisha Christie opens the space by asking why this podcast exists at all -- in a world already full of noise, content, and constant reaction.

The answer is not another performance.
It is a pause.
A listening in.
A space to think about how we live with another, how we make meaning, how we survive, love, lose ourselves, and find ourselves again.

We’re a big kid now.
A bit more coordinated, trying to be more social.
Curious. Growing.
Learning how to continue to be in real relationship with each other, with our clients, and with our community.
We’re doing this in a time that is asking a lot of our nervous systems — an ongoing ambient intensity that doesn’t seem to quit.
But here we are.
Bumping into things.
Holding the tension through it all.
Honoring the trust that has been placed in us.
Building something we can stand inside of together.
To everyone who has been part of this ...
THANK YOU for trusting us with your care, your stories, your becoming.

And thank you to the THERAPISTS that have graced this space with their brilliance.

We’re still learning.
Still becoming.
Still here.

We're proud to celebrate this milestone with our founder, Tanisha Christie, LCSW.

"I’m excited to share that I’ve been accepted into the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses program. 🎉"

It's time to build stronger containers for care and community. It has not been easy but I desire to continue expanding Liberation-Based Therapy in ways that protect the integrity of the work while increasing access for the people who need it most.

Too often, healing work is expected to survive without structure, strategy, or investment. I’m interested in changing that. I’m looking forward to learning alongside other entrepreneurs, sharpening what’s possible, and bringing that knowledge back to the communities we serve.

Here’s to growth with values, scale with soul, and building what should have existed all along.

Dissociation in couples work does not always look the way people expect.

Sometimes it shows up through projection, charged affect, rapid escalation, and a cycle where neither person can stay fully connected to what is happening underneath.

In our upcoming training, Where'd You Go? Exploring Dissociation and Countertransference in Psychotherapy, we explore a case example of mutual dissociation in couples work and the therapeutic interventions that helped interrupt the cycle.

This training is designed for clinicians who want a more practical understanding of dissociative coping, relational dynamics, and countertransference in the room. New York Social workers can receive CE hours and a certificate upon completion.

When working with dissociative clients, countertransference is not something to dismiss.

It may show up as confusion, urgency, distance, over-responsibility, or a feeling that the work is slipping just out of reach. These responses do not necessarily mean the therapist is off track. They may be clinical information.

When we approach countertransference with care and curiosity, it can offer insight into relational dynamics, protective strategies, and the conditions that keep disconnection in place.

Our upcoming training, Where'd You Go? Exploring Dissociation and Countertransference in Psychotherapy, explores these dynamics through case examples, discussion, and a liberation-based framework.

What changes when we stop seeing symptoms only as pathology?

In Decoding the DSM: A Critical Look at the DSM and Liberated-oriented Alternatives, we invite clinicians to consider how distress can also reflect survival, adaptation, and response to lived experience.

This 3-hour CE course explores strengths-based, trauma-informed, and culturally humbled alternatives to diagnosis that help us hold symptoms with more context and less harm.

Instead of asking only what is wrong, we can also ask what happened, what was survived, and what meaning these responses carry.
