Symptoms may be felt in the pelvic floor but the contributing factors may extend well beyond it.

The lumbosacral spine, abdomen, hips, and trunk can all influence pelvic pain, urinary urgency, and leakage. For appropriately trained clinicians, dry needling offers another way to assess and address these interconnected structures, including tissues that may be difficult to access through manual techniques alone.

The Herman & Wallace dry needling series, taught by Tina Anderson, MS, PT, and Kelly Sammis, PT, OCS, CLT, AFDN-S, progresses from foundational application to advanced concepts and neuromodulation.

Thinking about earning your PRPC but not sure where to begin?

Start with three questions:

A. What does the credential recognize?
B. Do you meet the clinical experience requirements?
C. Do you understand the application and exam process?

The Pelvic Rehabilitation Practitioner Certification is a board-level credential awarded by Herman & Wallace to licensed clinicians who demonstrate advanced expertise in pelvic floor and pelvic girdle rehabilitation across the life cycle and gender spectrum.

Eligibility requires 2,000 hours of licensed, direct pelvic patient care within the past 8 years, including 500 hours within the past 2 years, along with an active qualifying clinical license. There is no required coursework to sit for the exam; the pathway is built on meaningful clinical experience, a completed application, and successfully passing the computer-based multiple-choice exam.

The next PRPC exam window is November 1–15, 2026, and applications are due October 1.

Did you know? Many pelvic health intake forms, exam templates, and treatment protocols still assume a binary relationship between s*x and anatomy. For inters*x patients, those assumptions can create gaps in both the clinical picture and the therapeutic relationship.

Estimates suggest 1–2 out of every 100 people have an inters*x variation, and some may not learn this until puberty, fertility care, or an incidental imaging finding. Inclusive pelvic rehabilitation means adapting the history, examination, and plan of care to the patient in front of you rather than relying on a template that may not fit.

Certification is more than adding letters after your name. It is a way to validate the clinical experience you have built—and make the path forward clear.

The Pelvic Rehabilitation Practitioner Certification (PRPC) is a board-level credential awarded by Herman & Wallace for licensed clinicians who demonstrate advanced expertise in pelvic floor and pelvic girdle rehabilitation.

The process follows four steps:
1️⃣ Review the eligibility requirements.
2️⃣ Submit the application and application review fee.
3️⃣ If approved, submit the examination fee.
4️⃣ Sit for and pass the computer-based exam.
