Dr. Heidi Cox and Dr. Sarah Davidson will be co-leading a new round of parent skills and support in January & February, beginning Jan 13!

Parenting Neurodiversity is a skills and support group aimed at parents in Neurodiverse families (many of whom are neurodiverse themselves). Neurodiversity includes ADHD, ASD, and learning disabilities, and they do not need a formal diagnosis to attend the group.

Who: Parents (or Caregivers) of kids with Neurodiversity - this means ADHD, Autism Spectrum, Learning Disabilities, 2e (formal diagnosis not required).

When: Tuesdays from 12-1pm, in January and February beginning Jan 13

Gain:
- understanding of different neurological profiles from two expert psychologists who are also parents
- skills to help support your own wellbeing as well as your childs'
- emotional support skills
- alternative options to power struggles
- family executive functioning skills
- support from other parents who get it

We will be teaching you all about how to get some relief from the stress and unique challenges of neurodiversity so that you can take care of yourself and focus on using your strengths. You will leave feel supported, recharged, and more nurtured than when you came in. Ask about sliding scale spots!

Inspired by…Jane Goodall. In her 2025 interview, Jane reminds us not to lose hope. She said loss of hope leads to apathy and inaction. Right now I think many of us have lost hope and are in a collapsed, dissociated state. So here’s a reminder to keep hope alive!

Recently there was an FDA panel on SSRIs during pregnancy that was more politically-motivated than science-backed.

FACT CHECK: SSRIs are often LIFE-SAVING during and after pregnancy. Women need to be able to have conversations with their doctors about appropriate treatment for perinatal anxiety and depression without fear. All medications carry inherent risks to some extent but after years of data on women taking medicines during pregnancy we have gathered a great deal of knowledge and the benefits can often outweigh the (small) risks. Please discuss with a medical professional.

“Letting your baby cry it out is child neglect” or “cry it out instills discipline and is the only way to raise an autonomous child.” These are both posts I was fed in my social media feed today.

To be honest, regardless of our own personal choices, statements like these cause parents to feel shamed, confused, or downright disempowered to make the parenting choices that are right for them and their family.
